Newsletter # 2 December 2020 View in browser Newsletter # 2 December 2020 Project supported by the Interreg Central Europe Programme and funded under the European Regional Development Fund. About us: TARGET-CE is a consortium of 8 project partners and 9 associated partners Priority 2: Cooperating on low carbon cities and regions. TARGET-CE is the implementation of 7 pilot activities impacting 6 countries: Weiz (AT), Podgórzyn (PL) and Chrastava (CZ) - Union of Romagna Communities (IT), Split (HR), Nazarje (SI), Milanówek (PL) and Ferrara (IT) with a duration from 01.04.2020 - 31.03.2022. In each newsletter we want to present 2 of the partners: Partner 3 Mazovia Energy Agency Ltd. (MAE) promotes renewable energy and energy efficiency. The Agency was established in March 2009 by Mazovian Voivodeship (Mazovia self-government) to set up energy policy in the region and assist public and private institutions in energy planning. MAE with a balanced structure of stakeholders and work programme fulfils public mission and is recognized regionally, nationally and at EU level. The Agency's activities are to lead to the development of a comprehensive regional energy policy, coordination of energy activities in the region and increase of the involvement of local participants (municipalities, households, farms, entrepreneurs) in the implementation of regional energy policy. One of the Agency's tasks is also local renewable energy market monitoring with the aim to rationalize energy use, together with collecting uniform and representative data on topics related to RES and EE in Mazovia. Contact: Mateusz Kruk | [email protected] Partner 4 The Union of Municipalities of Bassa Romagna is located in the heart of the Province of Ravenna, between the Adriatic Sea and the Romagna hills, in the north-eastern part of Italy. It covers a total area of 480 square kilometers and a population of more than 100 thousand inhabitants. It is a Public Law organisation, a Local Authority that associates 9 Municipalities: Alfonsine, Bagnacavallo, Bagnara di Romagna, Conselice, Cotignola, Fusignano, Lugo, Massa Lombarda and Sant'Agata sul Santerno. The territory of Bassa Romagna is characterized by a long and strong tradition of cooperation and associated work, which led to the establishment on the 1st January 2000 of the Inter-municipal Association of Bassa Romagna; today the Union is a well defined and recognized reality, a territorial system with its own identity. The Union of Bassa Romagna Municipalities represents indeed an innovative governance example, being on a national scale the first example of association among Local Authorities for the joint management of associated functions under a recognized common legal framework. These 3D contents will be used to better visualize, analyse, query and interpret energy data at city scale. Data include building footprints, urban attributes (building heights, type of building, etc.) and energy- related attributes (type of heating, energy sources, availability of solar panels, etc.). 3D cities will be generated within WP2 activities, included in the 3DEMS module and made queryable for energy managers, planners and citizens. more about 3DEMS Energy and Innovation Centre of Weiz The Innovation Center W.E.I.Z. has been working for years on a detailed representation of the energy consumption of municipality, SME and private buildings. The aim is to identify which buildings are energy intensive and to improve the local CO2 footprint step by step with cooperation partners, such as the expansion of district heating and eco-funding for heating replacement. As the Weiz pilot buildings, the best- practice office buildings W.E.I.Z. I-III will be investigated and visualized and analyzed according to the BOOSTEE-CE approach. In addition, at the W.E.I.Z. site, research is being conducted into how the existing buildings can be adapted to the current state of the art and improved in terms of energy efficiency, including sector coupling. more about WEIZ buildings Dom mladih Split “Dom mladih Split” is an unfinished, half-done cultural center formed in the early 1980s, with area of 10.400 m² of closed space. Since the time of its creation, parts of space have been used for cultural-artistic programs, in more or less organized form, in inadequate and sometimes dangerous conditions. In the last 10 years, systematic editing of the space has been initiated. The concept of centrally organized building with a focus on one stage was replaced by a set of multiple and diverse spaces for production and presentation of contemporary arts and youth culture, hybrid model that relies on a number of initiatives that run their programs in different regimes and parts. This innovative model of space- organization-program in culture is being developed with the support of City of Split, the owner of the building. Space is now used by a large number of associations and institutions gathered in advocacy network called “Platforma Doma mladih”.     ISREC - Progetto Linea Gotica CERVIA Denominazione: Comune di Cervia Tipologia: Comune Localizzazione: Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi 1 [44° 15’ 40” Nord – 12° 20’ 58” Est] Descrizione: Comune di 29.164 abitanti (dato al 29 febbraio 2012) situato a 20 km a sud di Ravenna, si affaccia sul mare con un litorale di 10 km caratterizzato da un arenile di sabbia finissima e da bassi fondali. Cervia, l’antica “città del sale”, con le sue località di Milano Marittima, Pinarella e Tagliata è oggi un rinomato centro turistico di fama internazionale. Nell’autunno del 1944, in questo tratto di riviera adriatica, dove il regime fascista aveva coltivato il sogno dell’“italica gioventù” nella costruzione d’imponenti colonie (si ricordano tra le tante gli stabilimenti “Montecatini” e “Varese” di Milano Marittima), i partigiani della 28a Brigata GAP “Mario Gordini” (Distaccamento “Settimio Garavini”) opposero una dura resistenza alle truppe di occupazione tedesca arroccate in città, riuscendo a convincere il Comando alleato a desistere dal proposito di raderla al suolo. Currently, the lifespan of several DWSSs worldwide has been exceeded, exasperating these issues. The monitoring activity and the transparency of information on water availability and quality are becoming increasingly important in accordance with the national regulations and standards, and with guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO). These activities can be considered as support and guidance tools for identifying health-related risks, for building a safe management of drinking water supply systems, and for improved user confidence in the consumption of tap water. In this context, in the present work an analysis of the quality monitoring data of DWSSs was carried out using multivariate techniques. The analysis considered several chemical–physical parameters collected in the period 2013–2020 for some DWSSs in the Emilia-Romagna region, Italy. Principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis (CA) methods were used to process and reduce the dimensionality of the data, to highlight the parameters that have the greatest influence on the qualitative state of the supplied water and to identify clusters. Margutti2 1Department of Geotechnology, Chieti-Pescara University, Italy 2Saint-Gobain BPB Italia S.p.A - Cinisello Balsamo, Italy Abstract This paper deals with the geo-mechanical characterization and the numerical modelling of the “King Tiberius” natural cave. The so named “Grotta di Re Tiberio”, located near the gypsum quarry of “Monte Tondo”, in Borgo Rivola in the village of Riolo Terme (Ravenna Province – north-east Italy) is the most famous and celebrated natural cavity of the Regional Park of the Vena del Gesso, because of archaeological evidence attesting to the presence of man over several millennia (Age of Copper). The cavity, which is due to karsts phenomena occurring in the Gypsum formation, is more than 4 km long and is easily explored only for a stretch of about 60 m up to the astonishing “Gothic Chamber”. The underground mining of gypsum, which happens within the “Monte Tondo” for more than 20 km, has caused, below the natural cavity, the collapse of a portion of pavement affected by archaeological remains. This has involved the structural analysis of the rock and the stability of the system (natural and anthropic cavities) in correspondence of the “Re Tiberius” cave. The conducted tests have involved the difficult reconstruction of the underground physical model and a numerical modelling of a significant portion of rock mass in order to propose some remedial works to safeguard and preserve the area. The modelling was implemented using a numerical code (FLAC_3D) at finite differences.

Nevertheless, it is unlikely that Cotignola was strictly limited to the “villa” because the Descriptio assigns a re- markable number of ‘hearths’ to it, all of 144 focularia2 i.e. tax-paying family units, a considerable number for a late fourteenth century rural location in Romagna.3 In fact, in those days this ‘almost village’ must already have had a defensive wall build by the inhabitants of Faenza and Forlì in 1276, most prob- ably not a wall with a moat but a strong enclosure made of wood, or an em- bankment.4 The castrum may have been degraded to ‘villa’ because of the dire condition it was in when Anglic’s official visited, which is quite easy to imagine in consideration of the fact that the nearby Senio river must have frequently subjected the settlement to the perils of destructive floods.
