Mission of Professional Development Fair: To offer research-based professional development to the WCSC staff. Feedback from previous PD sessions and from the Advanced Education Accreditation is that our staff members want/need more PD. In order for our schools and corporation to continue to improve and stay current on best practices, the corporation needs to give employees proper training and encourage professional growth.

Dr. Angela McKinney is a project consultant for the IEP Resource Center (IEPRC). She is a graduate of and . Training interests include evaluation and eligibility, case conference processes, and tiered systems of support. Dr. McKinney previously worked as a school psychologist in Nebraska, North Carolina, and Indiana and as an Assistant Director of Special Education. Contact: [email protected]

Dr. Gail Ringwalt is a consultant for the Indiana IEP Resource Center (IEPRC). She is a graduate of Indiana University. Interests include the case conference process, low incidence disabilities, and differentiated instruction. Paraprofessionals can provide educational, functional, and behavioral support to students in the special education setting, but can also be a great resource to both special and general education students in the general education classroom. This session will outline the unique and diverse needs of English Language Learners and the challenges they face in the classroom. Tracking behavior can seem like a heavy burden on teachers with all of their other daily demands. This presentation will focus on simple tracking options and resources that will provide a significant amount of information to help drive behavioral responses for our teachers. Websites and online tracking options will be shared that take the burden of charting, graphing, and analyzing off the teacher so more time can be spent teaching. Enhance and Streamline Your RtI Process, Presenter Katie Hubiak, Alicia Tromley and Jamie Pryor

In this session the key concept will be learning how to enhance and improve your current RtI program. You will learn how to use a three-tiered process of RtI, how to better utilize the technology in the school for keeping track of notes, meetings, and data of the RtI students, and how to use school resources to provide intervention for the RtI students. Our school is in the second year of changing and enhancing our RtI program and it has continued to improve and grow.

Many teachers, both general and special education, appreciate the benefits of a co-teaching arrangement, but are intimidated by the challenges that this classroom structure can present. In this session, we will share strategies that we have developed throughout four years as co-teachers at both the elementary and middle school levels. We will present co-teaching classroom models and discuss ways to differentiate instruction while maintaining the highest levels of expectations for all students.

generationOn Indiana is a Lilly Endowment grant-funded program facilitated by the Indiana Association of School Principals and the Indiana Middle Level Education Association. Our mission is to spread knowledge of service-learning and philanthropy education and the free websites (www.generationOn.org and www.learningtogive.org ) that are available to teachers. Service-learning and philanthropy education benefit students, schools, and the community. We are dedicated to bringing our resources to schools in Indiana. generationOn is a service-learning website, while Learning to Give offers teachers 1700+ teacher-created lesson plans for teachers to link service and philanthropy to existing curriculum. Our goal is to equip teachers with the tools to incorporate service-learning into their school’s existing curriculum while still addressing essential standards. generationOn and Learning to Give will equip those teachers with additional tools and resources to enhance their students’ engagement and enthusiasm for learning while creating real-world application, fostering higher-order thinking skills, and producing future leaders with a heart for philanthropy.
