I wanted to share some of Paul’s storieswith you.

a. When a severely autistic child wanting to visit Santa but was not comfortable around a lot of people, the Friends of Woodsmoke made arrangements for that child to have one on one time with Santa and the child’s family while there. b. A lady visitor said that it made her feel like a kid again and reminded her of a scene on a Hallmark Christmas Card. c. The Friends of Camp Woodsmoke gave a special surprise to one sobbing special needs girl whose name had not been announced earlier for a prize but shortly afterwards when her name was announced, she ran to the pavilion with joy. d. Bruce Davis (Father of the late Tyler Davis, whom I had written about in a couple of my articles last year) thanked the Camp for the great display and said that Tyler was smiling from above.

Paul talked to the owner of the convenience store in Clarks- burg and many from the area mentioned that they enjoyed the Christmas at Camp Woodsmoke and was hoping that it would become an annual event. Plans are to have it next year and have more things happening. I will say if you were unable to make it this year, you missed out on a wonderful experience but put it on your calendar for next year.

This event was truly an outreach into the community around Camp Woodsmoke as well as a place and event where special needs persons can come and enjoy a unique time at this special time of the year, just as Lions had in- tended it to be.

Here is some information that Paul shared with me. For the Yours in Lionism, 5 days, approximately 1000 people visited the Camp. I CC Ron Bigham, CW Trustee know that when Lion Patricia and I were there, quite a number of cars drove through the Camp to enjoy the lights and by the time we left, volunteers were parking cars along the drive going toward the amphitheater. To see Santa and Mrs. Claus with children listening to their wishes for Christ- mas was a treat for us. Two of the cabins had crafts for chil- dren and families to do together at this time of year.

Lions of 25 F, please express a special THANK YOU to those who helped make this a very successful project.

Nettle Creek Lions Club Santa and Pony

The Nettle Creek Lions Club of Hagerstown, Indi- ana hosted a Dinner With Santa event attended by more than 70 people (children and a parent) at- tended. Santa was there, and Buzz the therapy pony made an appearance.

The children loved Buzz. The club is planning a fund- raiser event for the purpose of donating funds so that Buzz can be used even more in our community. There was a meal served, kid time with Santa, a story time with Santa, and lots of Christmas crafts for the children to do. It was a very successful community night.

Clermont Lions Club Holiday Activities

On November 26th, 2019 the Clermont Lions proudly assisted 20 families in their community with a Thanks- giving dinner. They provided everything a family would need to be able to prepare dinner for their fami- lies along with a few special items just for the kids!

They then continued the holiday giving with our annual Christmas party where 85 kids got to meet Santa, deco- rate cookies, and received a book, stuffed animal and a toy of their very own!

Mid-Winter Conference Updates PCC Reed Fish

In this newsletter and in the Lion there is information about the 2020 Mid-Winter conference. If you’ve attended one of the conferences and found it to be educational and entertaining please encourage other members in your club to register for the January 11th learning event.

Some members have thought that this conference is only for current or past officers - not those who haven’t served as an officer yet. This conference has been one of the best op- portunities for any of our membership to learn about all levels of Lionism on subjects that have been requested from Lions. Past conferences included keynote speakers that were Lions who spoke about our projects and committees and non-Lions that spoke about a wide variety of subjects.

If you want to be motivated and inspired I can guarantee that this year’s speaker will not disappoint. Just hearing his message is worth the cost of admission! Be sure and get your registrations in as soon as possible!

June 25 – 29, 2021: Montreal, Quebec: Known as ‘Canada’s Cultural Capital’, Quebec’s largest city is like no other in ! Behind Paris, Montreal is the 2nd largest French-speaking city in the world and truly a foodie’s para- dise. While the underground pedestrian network is impressive with over 2,000 shops covering 18 miles, the 9 miles of shops lining the famous Sainte-Catherine Street has been the pride of Montreal for over a century. Explore Montreal, Notre-Dame Basilica , Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the Olympic Stadium are just a few sight. If nature is your escape, 343 acres of green space in Mount Royal Park offers the best views of this cosmopolitan city. Montreal has so much more to offer. So encourage your clubs to put on their thinking cap on and start designing.
