SUSSEX COUNCIL-GEORGETOWN, DELAWARE-NOVEMBER JO, 1971

Call to The regular meeting of the Sussex County Council was held Order on Tuesday, November JO, 1971, at 10:00 a.m., with the fol­ lowing members present:

Richard L. Timmons, President William B. Chandler, Jr., Vice President John L. Briggs, Councilman

The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and the repeating of the 's Prayer.

Dinner Councilmen, Timmons, Chandler, ; Senators, Hickman, Meeting Elliott, Grier; Representatives, Harrington, Mears, Clendaniel, Re: Sussex Gordy, Cordrey, Dickerson; County Administrator, Muir; County County Finance Director, Sidwell and County Engineer, Henry, attended a dinner meeting November 29, 1971, at the Flagship Restaurant to discuss projects that Sussex County is involved in and what is happening in this County. Mr. Timmons complimented Messrs. Muir, Sidwell and Henry on the fine reports that were presented at the above meeting.

M J51 71 Motion by Mr. Chandler, seconded by Mr . Briggs, unanimously Ralph carried to revoke the passport of Mr. Ralph Nader to Sussex Nader County because of a detrimental and unfair report that was publish ed in The Morning News on November JO, 1971. Mr. Nader will remain unwelcome in Sussex County until he presonally visits the Council with an apology and clarification of this report.

M J52 71 Motion by Mr. Briggs, seconded by Mr . Chandler, unanimously Insur ance carried to authorize Mr. Sidwell to purchase $1,000,000.00 Airport worth of libility insurance from U. S. Aviation Underwriters, Inc., for the Sussex ¥ Airport, for one year beginning immediately, for a sum of $1,200 . 00.

Landfill Mr. Henry, County Engineer, reported that 100 tons of sand # 6 had been order for landfill # 6 to be used as fill. Mr. Henry was authorized to have specifications drawn and advertise for bids for cutting of approximately JO acres of timber at landfill #6.

Public Public Hearing was held on the following applications: Hearing Conditional Use #JO Delmarva Land Co.

To consider the Conditional Use of land in an AR , located on the south side of Delaware Road J82 and west of Delaware Road 54 in Baltimore Hundred containing J.01 acres, for the purpose of constructing and operating a concrete \ batch plant.

~ Testimony was heard in favor and against this application, which is recorded on tape and is on file in the office of the County Council.

M J5J 71 Motion by Mr. Briggs, seconded by Mr. Chandler, unanimously Delmarva carried to concur with the recommendation of the Planning Land Co. andZoning Commission to grant this conditional use of land with the stipulations as set forth by the Planning and Zon­ ing Commission. Vote Mr. Briggs, Yea, Mr. Chandler, Yea, Mr . Timmons, Yea Conditional Use # Jl East Coast Resorts, Inc.

To consider the Conditional Use of land in an MR District located on the west side of Delaware Road 14, approximately 1 mile south of Indian River Inlet in Baltimore Hundred.

James Griffin, Esq., represented the applicant and testimony was heard in favor of this application.

Henry R. Horsey, Esq., represented those in opposition to the applicant and testimony was heard against this application.

Lease ~ames Sabo, Esq., presented and discussed the lease between All American All American and the County in regards to the Sussex County & County Airport.

M 355 71 Motion by Mr. Briggs, seconded by Mr. Chandler, unanimously carried to authorize Mr. Timmons to sign the lease between All American and the County , of Sussex.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at J:OO p.m.
