Nestled into a wooded hillside with breathtaking views of the Swale Valley, this elegant country house is located at the centre of picturesque Swaledale – the most northerly dales of the National Park. It is only a short drive from the historic market town of Richmond with its famous Norman Castle and many other amenities such as theatre and cinema. There are also plenty of pretty traditional Dales villages and exciting visitor attractions to explore nearby.

The house itself, which accommodates up to nine people (ten by arrangement), is surrounded by flowering meadows and is set in enclosed spacious grounds with its own private stretch of river. Nature abounds and the only sounds to be heard are the call of wild birds and occasional conversation of distant farm animals. With no other neighbours, it is quite simply the perfect rural retreat.

During their stay, guests have exclusive use of private leisure facilities, including a magnificent 16-metre indoor heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and large, fully equipped gym, with table tennis and table football. Outside is an ornamental walled garden, football pitch and tennis court.

With every comfort in mind, The Old Vicarage has been thoughtfully decorated and furnished to create a relaxed and sumptuous place to stay. Carefully chosen antiques and contemporary furniture sit side-by-side with original artworks, and the small touches such as fresh floral arrangements and a generous welcome hamper, containing free-range eggs from the owner’s hens, don’t go unnoticed.
