The Johnnies have lostsix of nine games, and barring a miraculous MIAC late-season run, the Johnnies will finish the year with a losing record. The last time the Johnnies fin- ished with a losing record was in the 1997-1998 season. This season the Johnnies have been led by Standings senior guard Kevin Buth, who leads the MIAC in scoring with an average of 21.6 points per game. MIAC Overall Buth is also St. John’s best three point shooter at 36.6 percent. Additionally, he pulls down 4.6 St. Thomas 15-3 19-4 rebounds per game and averages 2.3 assists per game. Post player Shawn McGuire grabs 5.4 Gustavus 13-5 17-6 rebounds per game and scores 11.1 points per game. McGuire is the only other Johnnie to average Carleton 12-6 15-8 double figures in scoring. Junior point guard Pat McKenzie averages 5.1 assist per game, which is Bethel 12-6 14-9 second in the conference behind Carleton’s Scott Christensen. McKenzie averages 2.1 steals per St. John’s 9-9 10-13 game, which is good for third in the MIAC, while contributing 8.4 points per game. Big man Andrew St. Olaf 9-9 13-10 Sherburne pulls down 5.4 rebounds per game and scores 6.6 points per game. First year player Paul Augsburg 8-11 11-13 Henricks and sophomore Ryan Bigalke contribute 4.9 and 4.4 points per game, respectively. Macalester 7-11 9-14 Despite having no player average more than 5.4 rebounds per game, the Johnnies have a +2.9 Hamline 7-11 11-12 rebounding margin. But St. John’s has a -1.6 turnover margin and shoots only 32.4 percent from Concordia 7-12 8-15 Saint Mary’s 2-18 2-22 behind the arc. As a result, the Johnnies are second-to-last in the conference in scoring offense at 67.0 points per game.
