Bicycle in mobility urban plans Suncoast Region cities are drawing up its Urban Mobility Plans, including bicycle as an important transport solution and to promote sustainable development through cycle touring. Due to its low investment for the high payback, low impact to the environment and greater inclusion of the visitor with the attractions and population of the destination. Goal Within a participatory process of governance by integrating public power, civil society, academics and private initiative, the development of a consortium of region’s municipalities is sought to organize and establish cycle tourism routes. Exploring potentialities The proximity to Rio de Janeiro and Niterói, main tourist destination regions, and the existence of routes and destinations inducing national and international tourism such as the Charles Darwin Route and the cities of Arraial, Cabo Frio e Búzios, are local potentialities that intensify the importance of mapping routes that have already been used and the articulation of the main actors related to urban planning, transportation and tourism in the Suncoast region.
