Show Layout Guides Hide Layout Guides In Memory was born on September 18, 1929, in Moline, Wally IL, the son of Vern and Lydia Koenig Lofgren. He married Shirley J. Johnson on January 11, 1952, in Moline. For 25 years, he worked as an accountant for Deere & Co., retiring in 1984. He taught accounting at the American Institute of Commerce and Black Hawk College. Wally was a lifetime member of the Accountant’s Association of Iowa and a member of S.C.O.R.E. He volunteered for the John Deere Classic. He was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church in Moline. He was active in the Boy Scouts. He was a board member of the Accreditation Council for Accounting and Taxation. Wally was very involved with his sons in their competitive swimming, both at the YMCA and Rock Island High School. He was a true caregiver for his mother, brother, and sister and had a servant’s heart. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Lofgren; sons, Michael (Denise) Lofgren, AZ, Jeff (Sharan) Lofgren, CO, Steve (Cindy) Lofgren, Silvis, IL, Chris (Kathy) Lofgren, Silvis, IL, and Matt (Maria) Lofgren, Iowa City, IA; 7 grandchildren; several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; sister, Shirley; and a grandson. Walter "Wally" L.
