MY KINGDOM GO “Your kingdom come, your will be done” (6:10) Prayer •“Every great movement of God can be traced back to a kneeling Christian.” —Dwight L. Moody Matthew 6:10 “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (ESV) Luke 17:20-21 “Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he answered them, ‘The kingdom of God is not coming in ways that can be observed, nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.’” (ESV) Colossians 1:5-6, 13-14 “Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel, which has come to you ... He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” (ESV) God’s Kingdom •“To pray that his kingdom may come is to pray both that his church will grow on earth now, and that he will return in glory later to take his people to his eternal kingdom. Stott ACKNOWLEDGE THE RULE OF THE KING “YOUR Kingdom come …” God’s Will Is … •God’s will is for our highest good. •God’s will is what is in our best interest. •God’s will is that we become what he created us to be. •God’s will is to turn evil into good. •God wants what is the best in our lives. Application •You can’t claim to be following God and not surrender your will to him. Two Questions •What kingdom are you really a part of: God’s kingdom, or the kingdom of this world? •How can you ask God for his specific will for your life, when you are not following God’s universal will as revealed in Scripture? Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ … And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’” (ESV) My Kingdom Go •Father, be in charge of my life, here and now, as you are already in charge from your throne in heaven. Lord, sit on the throne of my heart and my life. Wear the crown of glory that only you deserve. Help me be your faithful servant, now and forever. May my kingdom decrease as your kingdom increases.
