“Your Kingdom Come, Your Will Be Done” (6:10) Prayer •“Every Great Movement of God Can Be Traced Back to a Kneeling Christian.” —Dwight L MY KINGDOM GO “Your kingdom come, your will be done” (6:10) Prayer •“Every great movement of God can be traced back to a kneeling Christian.” —Dwight L. Moody Matthew 6:10 “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (ESV) Luke 17:20-21 “Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he answered them, ‘The kingdom of God is not coming in ways that can be observed, nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.’” (ESV) Colossians 1:5-6, 13-14 “Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel, which has come to you ... He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” (ESV) God’s Kingdom •“To pray that his kingdom may come is to pray both that his church will grow on earth now, and that he will return in glory later to take his people to his eternal kingdom. It has both a present and future reality.” —John R.W. Stott ACKNOWLEDGE THE RULE OF THE KING “YOUR Kingdom come …” God’s Will Is … •God’s will is for our highest good. •God’s will is what is in our best interest. •God’s will is that we become what he created us to be. •God’s will is to turn evil into good. •God wants what is the best in our lives. Application •You can’t claim to be following God and not surrender your will to him. DETERMINE THE WILL OF THE KING “Your WILL be done …” Umbrella of God’s Will God’s Specific Will James 4:8 “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” (ESV) A Sad Truth •“It is a sad truth that many Christians read the Bible only to find justification to follow their own wills. Instead of studying the Holy Word to find what God desires for them, they search the verses that will give them authority for doing what they want to do.” —Harry Rimmer Genesis 10:21-25 “The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram. The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash. Arpachshad fathered Shelah; and Shelah fathered Eber. To Eber were born … Peleg and … Joktan. Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, Obal, Abimael, Sheba, Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab; all these were the sons of Joktan.” (ESV) A Wedding Day Prayer “Dear God, I can’t believe it is my wedding day. I know I haven’t spent much time with you, but with all the rush of getting ready—I just couldn’t. I’m sorry. I feel a little guilty about this day because I know Larry doesn’t believe in you—in fact, he is anything but Christian. But I love him so much. What else can I do? Dear Father, please bless my marriage. I love him and want to be with him, so please don’t spoil my wedding day.” Application •If you are determined to find a way to have your own way, don’t bother to pray. EMBRACE THE WILL OF THE KING “Your will be done on EARTH as it is in heaven” Pray for Positive Determination “We need to will the will of God.” —A.W. Two Questions •What kingdom are you really a part of: God’s kingdom, or the kingdom of this world? •How can you ask God for his specific will for your life, when you are not following God’s universal will as revealed in Scripture? Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ … And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’” (ESV) My Kingdom Go •Father, be in charge of my life, here and now, as you are already in charge from your throne in heaven. Lord, sit on the throne of my heart and my life. Wear the crown of glory that only you deserve. Help me be your faithful servant, now and forever. May my kingdom decrease as your kingdom increases. In Jesus’ name, Amen. MY KINGDOM GO Are you ready to pray this prayer? Matthew 6:9-13 “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” (KJV).

    JOURNAL OF CREATION 31(1) 2017 || PAPERS Dating the Tower of Babel events with reference to Peleg and Joktan Andrew Sibley This paper discusses and seeks to identify the date of the Babel event from the writing of biblical and extra-biblical sources. This is a relevant question for creationists because of questions about the timing of post-Flood climatic changes and human migration. Sources used include the Masoretic Text, the Samaritan Pentateuch, the Septuagint, and the Book of Jubilees, and related historical commentaries. Historical sources suggest that the Babel dispersion occurred in the time of Joktan’s extended family and Peleg’s life. The preferred solution of this paper is to follow the Masoretic Text and the Seder Olam Rabbah commentary that places the Babel event 340 years post-Flood at Peleg’s death. Lewthwaite In their role as geographers, the Old Testament Isra­ elites have evoked some rather different reactions. As Wright and Filson remarked, ''The Bible is unique among the world's scriptures; it is the only one for whose com­ prehension the study of historical geography is basic."l Indeed, Napoleon found the correlation of document and place so compelling that he had the appropriate scriptures read to him in situ throughout his Palestinian campaign.2 Yet, there are surprising lacunae: as Bal y and Tushing­ ham remarked, even the location of sacred Mount Sinai passed from Israel's memory.3 That fact, of course, reflects long severance from a region which was traversed but never settled; and at least until the Exile and far-flung Dispersion, most Israelite geography remained conspic­ uously close to home. A tally of identifiable Old Testa­ ment place names,4 however incomplete, indicates that fully 90 percent were located in the "Holy Land" itself (Figure 1).
