Day 1 - Tuesday The gateway to the Panama Canal, Colon was imagined in the 16th century and finished in 1914. A futurist city with a colonial heart, it is a UNESCO Colon World Heritage Site.

Day 2 - Wednesday Colon

Day 3 - Thursday A string of tiny islands in Robinson Crusoe spirit. Ten percent of the islands are inhabited, by Kunas Indians, who jealously preserve their environment San Blas and ancestral way of life.

Day 4 - Friday This pearl of the colonial era is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and famous for its 11-km long wall built by the Spaniards. Cartagena is also a bustling Cartagena town with lively streets and festivals, and colourful conlonial architecture.

Day 10 - Thursday The smallest of the Grenadine Islands has just one little village, surrounded by idyllic beaches with the finest sand, crystal clear waters and multicoloured Mayreau tropical fish. Day 11 - Friday The largest of the French West Indian towns blends cosmopolitan style and local colour, with its urban lifestyle, colourful markets, metal architecture and Fort-de-France charming old houses. Stopover for boarding and disembarking. Ship docked in port.

Discover the culture and traditional way of life of the Embera community: building with natural fibre and palm leaves, wearing multicoloured loincloths and Day 2 - Wednesday painting their bodies. After viewing the locks at Gatun from the very top of the flight, you will travel to , then take a 45-minute pirogue ride Colon / The locks and the Embera Indians (1 day) * along the river leading to an Embera village. Sitting on the ground, you will share the villagers' simple lunch: river fish and banana plantain eaten off a banana leaf.

After an hour's drive, you'll arrive at the Locks, where a visitor centre helps you to understand the impressive 20th century engineering. Then Day 2 - Wednesday you'll explore Panama's colonial quarter, Casco Antiguo, and have lunch there. This lovely area was awarded Unesco World Heritage status in 1997. In Colon / Panama, Bridge over America (1 day) * the afternoon, wander the side streets of this stunning district, and discover the various colonial era churches, the Plaza de Francia and Plaza Bolivar. Take a look at the shops and craft stalls.

Day 2 - Wednesday Come tour the new Agua Clara locks. The watchtower, which stands 60 m above sea level, offers an unbeatable view over Lake Gatún and the new Colon / New locks and . Continue on to the village of Portobelo on the Caribbean coast, the final stop on the Camino Real, the path the Spaniards used to Portobelo (half-day) * ship goods between Panama and the Caribbean. Explore the old customs house building, the ruins of various forts and the Black Christ Church.

Day 2 - Wednesday Come and see the Agua Clara locks. The watchtower, which stands 60 m above sea level, offers an unbeatable view over Lake Gatún and the new Colon / New locks and San Lorenzo (1/2 day - Panama Canal locks. Next, you will visit the ruins of San Lorenzo fort, full of history from the days of the pirates. Day 3 - Thursday In addition to its extraordinary vistas, this archipelago is also home to the Kuna Indians. Ride a "cayuco", a motorised pirogue, to visit a village and learn San Blas / the Kuna Indians (1/2 day, morning) * about their customs. Bring along some dollars to buy handicrafts, including "molas", the renowned embroidered fabric of the Kunas.

Day 4 and 5 - Friday and Saturday Discover Columbia's heritage as you learn to taste a Colombian coffee. Enjoy a bit of free time to choose your cafe, then explore the charming plazas and Cartagena / Old Town and Colombian coffee (half- narrow streets of the Old Town.
