CAMO LEATHERS A/S Camo Leathers A/S is a Danish company located in Aunig, close to Århus. The company specializes in leather qualities for upholstered furniture.

THE LEATHER: Muuto uses two different leather variants from Camo Leathers; Silk leather and Sydney leather. The two variants belong to two different leather cate- gories, namely Anilin leather and Semi Soft leather. Both Anlin and semi soft leathers are widely used terms within the industry, used to describe and differentiate leather qualities .

ANILIN LEATHER – SILK LEATHER: Anilin leather is the purest and most natural leather quality. Only around 15 % of all leather is of high enough quality to be classified as Anilin leather. Silk leather is an Anilin leather quality. Anilin leather shows all natural features of the animal hide and as a result hereof there will be variations from one product to another. The surface of Anilin leather has not, or has only to a small extent, been treated which preserves the natural look of the leather and ensures that the leather has a soft and warm feel to it. As the surface of Silk leather is soft and untreated, the colour of the leather will become darker with time.

SEMI SOFT LEATHER- SYDNEY LEATHER: Semi Soft leather is a lightly polished leather quality, which ensures flexibility and a soft surface. Semi Soft leather is chrome tanned without any use of PCP and CFC that can harm the environment. The tanning process makes the leather strong and wear-resistant, and thus less sensitive, while maintaining a soft texture.

CARE & MAINTAINANCE Leather does not tolerate dry air or sunlight well. As a precaution furniture with leather upholstery should not be placed in direct sunlight or in air conditioned rooms, as this will have a visible effect on the leather’s surface. Maintenance treatment of the leather is therefore very important. Clean the leather with a dry cloth regularly. Treat and re-impregnate the leather at least four times a year using only special leather treatment products for Anilin and Semi Soft leather products.
