Metacritic Journal for Comparative Studies and Theory 3.2 (2017): https://doi.org/10.24193/mjcst.2017.4.04 Abstract: My proposal aims to investigate the changes in the Romanian literary discourse on nature and the effects of industrialization following the 1989 revolution in comparison to the ideological discourse of the post-war era. If Romanian post-war literary discourse is firmly tied to the underlying ideology of Communism, then any attempt to investigate the discourse on nature in this period must be made alongside a reading of the Communist discourse on nature. In this respect, the situation of Romanian post-1989 prose that contains aspects of the influence of Communist industrialization on nature provides an interesting case study on the effects of the post-industrial era on literature itself. Thus, my proposal will focus on a number of novels written after 1989 in an ecocritical mode of reading. Keywords: ecocriticism, nature, ideology, Romanian post-war literature, 1989 Revolution Seeing as Romanian post-war literary discourse is invariably subordinated to the Communist ideology, analysing nature writing, or any discourse on nature of this period for that matter, from an ecocritical perspective could be seen as both a productive and a fruitless endeavour. As paradoxical as it may seem, to talk about nature in Romanian Communism, and then to talk about the Communist discourse on nature implies a careful, exhaustive, and therefore productive analysis of its ideology. -

ENGEL KÁROLY Hídverők példamutatása „Ha már felragyogott a nap első sugára, vajon meddig fog érni..." — köszön tötte Emil Isac a két világháború közötti korszak egyik magyar fordításban megje lent román költői antológiáját, amelyet a románok és magyarok között szövődő kap csolatok jelentős állomásának tekintett. A szónoki kérdés formájában parafrazált Shakespeare-idézet azonban ma sem vesztett időszerűségéből, mikor a Romániai Magyar Irodalmi Lexikon szerkesztésé vel az elmúlt fél évszázad hazai magyar művelődési törekvéseinek minden eddiginél átfogóbb szintézisére készülünk. Az összkép sok jelentős részlete tisztázódott kétség telenül már eddig is, de számtalan érdekes momentum vár még felelevenítésre. Mennyire feledésbe ment például azoknak erőfeszítése, akik „a hajnal emberei" módjára, mihelyt a fegyverbe öltözött Európa előtt felderengett a béke remény sugára, a gyűlöletbe béklyózott lelkek felszabadításán kezdtek munkálkodni. A testvériség, egyetértés szolgálata kudarcokkal dacoló elszántságot követel, főként egy olyan korban, mint a két világháború közötti időszak, a kizsákmányolásra ala pozott társadalmi rendszerek világméretű válságának, az egész emberiséget fenye gető katasztrófáknak az évei. Igyekezzünk nyomon követni tehát ennek az Emil Isac idézte sugárnak az útját, melynek ragyogásából román és magyar értelmiségiek próbáltak ismételten a szenvedélyek örvénye fölé a megértés aranyhídját vonni. Az első kezdeményezés Nagyváradról indult ki, ahol Ady Endre és Iosif Vul can szellemi hagyatéka eleve kedvező légkört teremtett a kultúrák találkozásának, mégpedig George Bacaloglu ezredes részéről, akit a háború forgataga sodort a Kárpátokon túlról a nyugati határszélre. Ő alapítja meg 1919 novemberében a Hár maskörös (Societatea Cele Trei Crişuri) közművelődési egyesületet, amelynek Fehér Körös szakosztálya románok és magyarok egybekapcsolását tűzte ki célul az irodalom, művészet és kultúra eszközeivel. „A háború folyamán csak a rombolás és pusztulás tüneteit láttuk, a fejlődés csak a rombolás technikájának tökéletesítésére szorítko zott. -

This I say not merely because of the fact that your university is named after one of my favourite philosophers, but because of the respect and partiality that I have for your school. During last year's conference, I witnessed what a vibrant university you have; that you have both serious professors and a serious student body. I observed that you are both open-minded and critical. I observed that you love both to work, and also to play. From the Pornographic Scandal to the Impermeability of the Critics Regarding the Avant-Garde Phenomenon The following study aims to analyze the complicated trajectory of the critical reception of Geo Bogza’s avant-garde poetry. Starting from the inter-war period, through the Communist era and until the post-revolution period, the paper investigates the main aspects of the critical reception of avant-garde poetry through the historical contextualization of the main streams of thought that dominated each period.
