Backstage talked to Erland Galjaard about the FAMILY programme and asked what makes it so popular. ENTERTAINMENT The Netherlands – 18 October 2012 RTL 4 Linda de Mol 4 Imagine a Saturday evening show unlike any other: a mixture of quiz, game and panel show. But in a whole lot of humour and related everything to one topic: your home country. What you end up with might be something like: Ik Hou Van Holland. The show is presented by Linda de Mol, a celebrity in the Netherlands who is also popular in Germany due to Traumhochzeit and other shows broadcast on RTL Television. “You need a strong host for this kind of show,” says Erland Galjaard, Programme Director at RTL 4. “And we got one in Linda.” She is supported by two fellow hosts: Jeroen van Koningsbrugge and Guus Meeuwis who head the two panels. Team Jeroen and Team Guus consist of three Dutch celebrities from different generations – one in their twenties, one in their thirties and one in their forties – who each compete against one another in various kinds of games. “These games are mostly knowledge-based,” explains Galjaard. “Like ‘Spelling’ for example, which can turn out to be quite hilarious when a celebrity does not know exactly how a word is spelled.” Other games include questions about famous television moments or about Dutch history. Germany – 12 October 2012 Stefan Franz playing Rolf Jäger The web series Des Jägers Herz, produced by Grundy UFA’s Digital Drama department, runs from 22 October 2012 for a period of fi ve weeks. In parallel to the Unter Uns storylines on TV the fi ve-part web format can be seen exclusively on RTL.de. However, the episodes will not only be a big deal on the internet – from mid-April 2013, fans of the series can look forward to Des Jägers Herz being a key element of the Unter Uns storyline on TV. Grundy UFA Digital Drama and RTL Interactive are thereby creating a series in which parallel web and TV storylines dovetail with each other. This exciting new series will have the audience following the format not only on their TV screens, but also on the internet.” The web series follows the fate of Rolf Jäger who, after murdering the policewoman Rebecca Mattern in the series, records his emotions ranging from anger, loneliness and deliriousness via webcam from his place of exile in South American. Over fi ve episodes, users and viewers are given an in-depth look into Rolf’s states of mind and his inner turmoil in his hideout.
