    ≈≈ehirehir RehberiRehberi Adana'nın Tarihçesi Adana İlinin tarihi ilk çağlara (M.Ö. 3000) yıllarına kadar uzanmaktadır. Adana'nın Seyhan Nehri kıyısına bir konak yeri olarak kurulduğu tahmin edilmektedir. Adana'ya ait en eski yazılı kayıtlara ilk defa, Anadolu'nun en köklü medeniyetlerinden olan Hititlerin Kava Kitabelerinde rastlanmaktadır. Bu kabilelerdeki bir yazıtta Adana ve çevresinden Uru Adania (Adana Beldesi) olarak bahsedilmektedir. Yöreye M.Ö. yaşayan kavimlere Danuna ismi ESKİ ADANA verildiği kayıtlarda mevcuttur. Bir efsaneye göre gök tanrısı Uranüs'ün Adanus ve Sarus adında iki oğlu Adana civarına savaşarak gelmişler, Adanus adını kendi kurdukları şehre vermiştir. Seyhan Nehri de Sarus adını almıştır. Hitit etkisinde kalan Fenikeliler, tarım ve bitki tanrılarının ismi olan Adonis'i bereketli topraklarından dolayı Adana'ya isim olarak vermiştir. M.S. 7. y.y.'dan itibaren İslam ordularının bölgeye gelişi ile birlikte Arap tarihçileri Adana isminin eski peygamberlerden Yasef'in torunu Ezene'den geldiği fikrini ortaya atmışlardır. Türkler Torosları aşıp güneye indiklerinde buraya Çukurova adını vermişlerdir. Çukurova'nın tarihteki adı Kilikya' dır. Kilikya adını kireç yataklarından almıştır. Sümerlerden kalma Gılgamış Destanından itibaren sayısız kaynaklarda sayısız olaylarla açıklanmaya çalışan yöre adı çok renkli bir gelişim takip etmiştir. Adana için kullanılan isimlerin karışıklıklara sebep olması nedeniyle 1878 yılında Osmanlılar Döneminde yayınlanan bir fermanla yöre adının Adana olarak yazılmasına karar verilmiştir. Adana

Her Majesty was born on August 12, 1932. She was named Sirikit, meaning the Glory of Kittiyakara family, with the title Mom Rajawongse (MR), equivalent to the Honorable. MR SirikitH went to Rajini School in 1936. Then she went to St. Francis Xavier Convent School until secondary level. She moved to England when she was 13 years old as her father Prince Nakkhatra was appointed Thai Ambassador to the Court of St. James. After a year, Prince Nakkhatra was transferred to be Ambassador to France. While serving in Paris, he had the opportunity to meet the young King Bhumibol Adulyadej. At the time, His Majesty the King was studying in Lausanne, Switzerland. The King met MR Sirikit for the first time in 1947. Later, the Princess Mother asked MR Sirikit to continue her studies in Lausanne and keep His Majesty company. The King and MR Sirikit got to meet each other more frequently. A quiet engagement ceremony for the royal couple was arranged on July 19, 1949 at the Windsor Hotel, Lausanne and they were married on April 28, 1950 at Srapathum Palace, Bangkok. On that day, Mom Rajawongse Sirikit was elevated to Queen Sirikit. Then, on December 5, 1956, the King’s birthday, Her Majesty was elevated her again to become the Regent of the King.

    LIFE IN ADANA …and Adana With a history dating back to 6000 BC, Adana is one of the oldest settlements in Anatolia and is the fifth- largest city in Turkey. Stretching over an area of 14.030 square kilometres, Adana has been undergoing a rapid development in an attempt to become a metropolitan city. It is situated in the most fertile agricultural area of the whole country that is fed by the life-giving waters of the Seyhan River. Adana's prosperity has long come from the fertile valleys behind it and its position as a bridgehead on the Anatolian-Arabian trade routes. Also its population boom can be attributed to its fertile plains, rivers and highlands. Additionally, besides having created a major textile industry, the city is also an importing trading centre for gold. Due to its being in the heart of that fertile land, Adana has been an important city for many civilizations for centuries dating back to the Hittites, one of the most important Anatolian civilizations. The precious River Seyhan is spanned by the ancient Taşköprü (Stone Bridge), which was built by Hadrian (117-138 AC) and then repaired by Justinian (527-565 AC). It is worth noting that to build a 300 yard long stone bridge in Roman times was a real feat. Furthermore, it is the only ancient bridge still being used by both pedestrians and drivers.
