Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) brings together some of the most popular and collected wines from Australia, America, France, Italy and New Zealand. Our treasured brands include Beringer, Penfolds, Lindeman’s, Wolf Blass, Rosemount, Matua, Wynns Coonawarra Estate, Etude and Castello di Gabbiano. With over 11,000 hectares of vineyards, sales totalling over 30 million cases of wine annually, and revenue of approximately AU$1.7 billion, TWE employs over 3,200 winemakers, viticulturists, sales, distribution and support staff across 16 countries - therefore it’s no wonder our people enjoy exciting and diverse career opportunities! It takes a special alchemy for a great wine to come into being: the intensity of an ardent sun, a soft and welcome rain and a rich, generous earth that nurtures the vines to perfect fruit. Above all, it takes the affections of a devoted winemaker to coax the tender grapes to their fleeting glory — harvest time. It is only then, after carefully juggling a delicate balance of science and instinct, that the secrets of the vines, the rhythms of the seasons and the vineyard’s unmistakable perfumes finally yield a truly memorable glass of wine. Such are the origins of each proud member of the brand family that is Treasury Wine Estates today. Dating back to 1843 with the establishment of the Lindeman’s Vineyard in Australia’s Hunter Valley, Penfolds in 1844, and Beringer in 1876 in Napa Valley, USA, our history is vast, our influence global, our pioneers brave and our trailblazers innovative. Our remarkable brands tell unmatched stories of dedication and persistence, and we’re pleased to share them with you in these pages. Who knows, you may even be able to visualise them in our wines! 4 Managing Director – Australia & NZ Angus leads the Sales & Marketing functions across Australia and New Zealand. Lindeman, who first planted vines in the Lower Hunter Valley in 1843, and Mary Penfold, dating back to 1844, and her remarkable contribution to winemaking in Australia. And there’s Jacob and Frederick Beringer in the US, along with Andrea Sbarboro and the Asti winery dating back to the 1880s. Even further back in time is our 12th Century Castello di Gabbiano vineyard that has been producing astounding Chianti for 1,000 years. And today, our trailblazers, such as acclaimed winemaker Margo Van Staaveren of Chateau St. Jean and Bill and Ross Spence of New Zealand with their country’s first ever sauvignon blanc, continue to surprise and astound. Whatever corner of the earth our wines come from, whatever their vintage, we’re intensely proud of the legacies and our people that have created them, and of those who continue to perpetuate our remarkable winemaking story. 10 Here at TWE we believe in creating a culture that delivers sustainable growth, for our people, our business and our customers. We have a passion for wine, and that is reflected in our behaviour and attitude in everything we do. In order to achieve this growth, we look to four key behaviours: Focus, Belief, Trust and Collaboration. We welcome new blood, enthusiasm and fresh insight; we look forward to what you could bring and sharing with you what we know. At TWE, wine is our thing. We are all attracted to the opportunity to be part of a distinctly wine-driven culture, yet make our presence felt as individuals. And what makes us all the more special and super-charged about what we do, is that we can do it with a common understanding from different places; places we know and love, places we can feel in our bones and taste in our wines. TWE’s working environment thrives on innovation, continuous improvement and commercial achievement and that’s what we look for in our people. We also look for people who possess a level of passion and ambition in all they do. We create and maintain an inspiring workplace that captures and develops our people’s potential and provides career opportunities locally and globally. High performance is recognised and rewarded through performance-based Rewards and Recognition Schemes. The TWE Let’s Celebrate! program provides recognition for those who shine, encourages employees and recognises significant or outstanding achievements and excellent service of any colleague, from any department, in any region in the world. Recognition is an important driver of employee satisfaction, engagement and performance. When employees have a win, we’re going to celebrate it! Employees can be nominated for a “Shout Out” or “I’m Grapeful” award, which reward their contribution to the business. We also recognise loyalty to TWE in the form of “Vintage” awards, which thank individuals for their commitment and service to the company in five-year increments. TWE is committed to supporting development that builds both individual and organisational capability. We support and encourage employees to be proactive in managing their development. All employees (excluding those covered by collective agreements) are expected to have a performance and development plan which covers key performance objectives, role responsibilities, employee behaviours and development actions. 11 Our employee share plan, Share Cellar, launched in March 2015. Share Cellar is available for employees to participate in becoming shareholders and co-owners in TWE as we strive to become the world’s most celebrate wine company. Using some of your after-tax pay over the plan year, TWE will facilitate the acquisition of TWE shares on your behalf. If you continue to be part of the TWE team on vesting date, TWE will give you one additional matched share for every two purchased shares that you hold in the plan. Applications will be open annually for around three weeks in March. We have a variety of Employee Social Clubs that are conducted at a state and site level. For a weekly or monthly contribution, employees and their families have access to things such as discounted events, free tickets and preferential treatment for restricted shows. (not available in all regions) Our Employee Assistance Program offers all permanent employees and their families a free, professional and confidential counselling service. The service can assist employees and their families with personal and work related issues and is offered independently through IPS Worldwide.
