Congregation and VBS Song “The Old Rugged Cross”

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, The emblem of suffering and shame. And I love that old cross where the dearest and best For a world of lost sinners was slain.

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross Till my trophies at last I lay down. And I will cling to the old rugged cross And exchange it some day for a crown.

Our mission this year is: the Steuben County Humane Shelter. A big thank you to the Humane shelter for speaking with us and sharing their puppy with us. The Shelter has dogs and many, many kittens and cats ready to be adopted. The boys and girls brought in donations all week towards the support of the shelter. After an intense competition, the boys beat the girls and Bev got a pie in the face!!! We raised $356.40 for the Steuben County Humane Shelter.

We also thank the Don Ayres VBS Endowment Fund and The Lutheran Foundation for helping fund our VBS week.

Prayer of the Church (Please stand) L Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus and for all people according to their needs.

(After each petition of the prayer) L Lord, in Your mercy, C Hear our prayer. (The prayer concludes) L Into Your hands O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in Your mercy; through Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. C Amen.

Lord's Prayer (Spoken by all) C Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Benediction P The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and T give you peace. C Amen.

CLOSING HYMN: “Go My Children” (LSB 922)

1. Go, My children, with My blessing, Never alone. Waking, sleeping, I am with you; You are My own. In My love’s baptismal river I have made you Mine forever. Go, My children, with My blessing— You are My own.

2. Go, My children, sins forgiven, At peace and pure. Here you learned how much I love you, What I can cure. Here you heard My dear Son’s story; Here you touched Him, saw His glory. Go, My children, sins forgiven, At peace and pure.

3. Go, My children, fed and nourished, Closer to Me; Grow in love and love by serving, Joyful and free. Here My Spirit’s power filled you; Here His tender comfort stilled you. Go, My children, fed and nourished, Joyful and free.

4. I the Lord will bless and keep you And give you peace; I the Lord will smile upon you And give you peace: I the Lord will be your Father, Savior, Comforter, and Brother. Go, My children; I will keep you And give you peace.

Creating The Rocky Railway set for this year’s VBS theme was a great example of teamwork, ‘pulling through” to reach a destination. Conductor Sandy Ayres coordinated the efforts of Brakeman Bob Burris, Engineer Pastor Jeff Corder, Switchmen George McCracken and Terry Heckman and Dispatchers Terri Hague and Julie Zachrich, Porters Tracy Creager and Char Knoblauch created beautiful aspen trees for those traveling on the VBS journey. The Caboose Crew of Bruce Moody, Don Crapo and Marty Zachrich made sure the train could enter and leave the station. Thanks to all who gave countless hours of time and talent to make The Rocky Railway scene so realistic. This year’s VBS participants will have visual proof that “Jesus’ Power Pulls us Through!”

A very special thank you to all who made this VBS possible with their donations of food, time, talents, and treasure. We couldn’t have done it without you! God Bless You!

We hope to see you back at VBS next year! ☺
