SENATE STANDING COMMITTEE ON LEGAL AND CONSTITUTIONAL AFFAIRS ATTORNEY-GENERAL’S DEPARTMENT

Corporate/cross-portfolio/general

Question No. 96

Senator Ludwig asked the following question at the hearing on 18 November 2013:

Grants a) Could the department provide an update list of all grants, including ad hoc and one-off grants from 7 September 2013 to date? Please provide details of the recipients, the amount, the intended use of the grants and what locations have benefited from the grants. b) Have all grant agreement details been published on its website c) Please list all grants that were approved prior to 7 September 2013, but did not have financial contracts in place on 7 September 2013. Please provide details of the recipients, the amount, the intended use of the grants and what locations have benefited from the grants. Please lists which grant applicants had been contacted advising of their success. Please provide the current status of these grants. Have any of these grants been cancelled, paused, discontinued or cut?

The answer to the honourable senator’s question is as follows: a) Please see attachment A b) Yes. c) The department has included a ‘no change’ category indicating a grant approved prior to 7 September 2013, with no funding agreement in place on this date, where the status remains unchanged i.e. ‘approved’ with no funding agreement in place and not fitting the other nominated categories. In addition, there are some grants which were approved prior to the 7 September with no funding agreement in place on the 7 September that have subsequently executed funding agreements now in place. These are listed as ‘executed’ in Attachment B. Without these extra categories the current status column would in some instances have remained blank.

Note: Any information regarding the Indigenous programs recently transferred to the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C) as part of the Machinery of Government changes need to be addressed to PM&C. Grants relating to arts programs which are now part of the Attorney-General’s Department, have been included in the two attachments.
