Si tratta di un sussidio realizzato con i contributi provenienti da cristiani di tutto il mondo e rivolto ai cristiani di tutto il mondo. Un vero lavoro di comunione ecclesiale, che è stato possibile grazie anche alla mediazione delle Direzioni Nazionali delle Pontificie Opere Missionarie presenti nei vari Paesi. Uno strumento nato in clima “sinodale” per servire le Chiese locali nei loro bi- sogni di formazione e animazione missionaria, e per preparare e vivere il Mese Missionario Straordinario voluto da Papa Francesco in occasione del centenario di promulgazione della Lettera apostolica Maximum Illud di Papa Benedetto XV (30 novembre 1919). I testi qui presentati serviranno a ispirare la creatività delle Chiese locali e dei loro cristiani nell’affrontare le sfide inerenti all’evangelizzazione a partire dalla missio ad gentes e dal proprio contesto. L’opera, essendo una guida e non un libro, non pretende di essere lineare, contenutisticamente esaustiva o strutturata secondo una progressione logica, né vuole porsi come una riflessione completa, articolata e sistematica sulla teologia o sulla catechesi riguardo alla missio ad gentes. Si è cercato di rispettare, per quanto possibile, la semplicità, i contenuti e lo stile dei molti contributi pervenutici in lingue diverse. Non si tratta di un testo prescrittivo: la nostra vera intenzione è quel- la di ispirare, suggerire e stimolare la creatività locale. Così facendo ci pare di ottemperare fedelmente al ruolo che la Congregazione per l’Evangelizzazione dei Popoli (CEP) e le Pontificie Opere Missionarie (POM) svolgono al ser- 5 BATTEZZATI E INVIATI: LA CHIESA DI CRISTO IN MISSIONE NEL MONDO vizio del ministero di Pastore Universale del Papa che, come Successore di Pietro, ha a cuore la fede e la missione di tutte le Chiese sparse nel mondo. Le parti di cui si compone questa Guida corrispondono alle dimensioni spirituali indicateci dal Santo Padre Papa Francesco nell’indire questo Mese Missionario Straordinario: l’incontro personale con Gesù Cristo vivo nella Chiesa, la testimonianza di santi e martiri della missione, la formazione catechetica alla missione e la carità missionaria. Il testo è pubblicato in in- glese, italiano, francese, spagnolo e portoghese. L’edizione tipica approvata e di riferimento, per quanto riguarda i contenuti, è quella in lingua italiana. Dopo una raccolta di testi ufficiali del Santo Padre Papa Francesco e del Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefetto della CEP, segue una riflessione sulla missione di Mons. Giampietro Dal Toso, Segretario Aggiunto della CEP e Presidente delle POM. Le mie considerazioni iniziali sulla missio ad gentes sono riflessioni aperte e non esaustive per aiutarci a meglio comprendere la missio ad gentes, la sua consistenza, la sua crisi e la sua paradigmaticità per tutta la Chiesa. La PARTE PRIMA, “Incontro con Gesù Cristo”, offre meditazioni spirituali di carattere missionario sulle letture bibliche della Santa Messa quotidiana dei 31 giorni del mese di ottobre 2019. Se ne può far uso per la celebrazione della Santa Messa o per ogni altro momento di preghiera e di formazione. La PARTE SECONDA, “I testimoni della missione”, riguarda donne e uomini, santi e martiri, canonizzati e non, che varie Chiese locali del mon- do intero ci hanno suggerito e presentato come modelli e intercessori nella fede e nella missione. Ciascuno si senta libero di contattare le Direzioni Nazionali POM dei Paesi di riferimento dei testimoni qui presentati per avere maggiori informazioni, indicazioni bibliografiche e suggerimenti. La PARTE TERZA, “Considerazioni sulla missione”, presenta una serie di temi importanti, evidenziati dalle Chiese locali e dai nostri Direttori Nazionali POM, per la formazione e l’animazione pastorale per la missione. Senza la pretesa di elaborare una teologia esauriente o proposte complete, 6 INTRODUZIONE ALLA GUIDA questi testi contengono idee e suggerimenti per incontri di formazione sulla missione. Si invita ad una lettura integrale e contestualizzata dei contenuti profe- tici sulla missio ad gentes della Lettera apostolica Maximum Illud. Inoltre, per il nostro impegno di preghiera, riflessione e formazione missionaria, si suggerisce di fare riferimento anche ad altri testi magisteriali quali: Lu- men Gentium, Ad Gentes, Nostra Aetate, Gaudium et Spes, Evangelii Nun- tiandi, Redemptoris Missio, Dialogo e Annuncio, Deus Caritas est, Evangelii Gaudium, oltre al Catechismo della Chiesa Cattolica e al Compendio della Dottrina Sociale della Chiesa. Dopo averne valutato e approvato i contenuti, la CEP e le POM sono lieti di proporre i testi qui pubblicati all’attenzione di chi ne vorrà disporre per la preparazione e l’implementazione del Mese Missionario Straordinario Ottobre 2019. Si tratta di una Guida scritta a più mani (non da un solo autore), e composta grazie ad un assiduo lavoro di raccolta, analisi e cernita da parte del Working Team October 20191. To assist children in developing the understanding that all of God's people are called to a life of holiness 2. To help children respond appropriately to the question: What is a saint? What does it mean to be blessed? One who: is proclaimed by the Church, after their death, to have lived a life of holiness teaches others about Jesus by their example lives like Jesus 3. To introduce one of our Church’s saints, Blessed Lucien Botovasoa, telling as much of the story that you feel will interest the children at your grade level. 4. To learn that Lucien was beatified because he lived in a way that respected the Gospel of Jesus 5. To learn that we are called by God to share the Gospel with our lives 6. Naturellement, en nous réjouissant pour une telle croissance, en même temps, nous avons besoin de nous demander ce que serait la Famille Franciscaine sans l’Évangile. L’Évangile est une règle de vie. C’est le cœur et le support des Chrétiens.

    Celebrating FIFTY YEARS ANNUAL REPORT 2018-2019 President’s Message AS CATHOLIC THEOLOGICAL UNION CELEBRATED THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF ITS FOUNDING, it seems appropriate, in a spirit of gratitude, to reflect on the achievements of the past, celebrate our present, as well as the exciting opportunities ahead of us. At the October gathering, we commemorated the 50th anniversary of CTU’s founding when in 1968 the three religious communities that founded CTU took the risk of beginning something new. They pooled their resources and came together in the Hyde Park university neighborhood to do together something they could never do separately—build a school of theology that would serve the future of the Church in a unique way. Planted in the heart of the city. Welcoming into its classroom lay women and men, as well as seminarians and religious. Opening its students to ecumenical and inter-religious dialogue. In short, preparing its students for a global church. In celebration of our mission and to mark our 50th anniversary, CTU has embarked on a capital campaign called Forward in Faith. The CTU family is coming together to help move CTU forward in service to the Church and the world. Rev. Mark R. Francis, CSV The campaign has a goal of $16 million. Half of this goal is dedicated to provide scholarships for outstanding students who have the qualities to serve the church with integrity. The remaining goals are to maintain and develop our superb faculty—one of the hallmarks of CTU—and to equip the institution with emerging technology that will advance CTU’s critically important mission throughout the country and the world.
