Mattia Cirillo - Corso Durante, 164 - Tel./Fax 081-835.11.05 - Frattamaggiore (NA) 2 PREFAZIONE Questo nuovo libro che il Preside Sosio Capasso, eminente studioso ed instancabile storiografo, dedica a Giulio Genoino, uno dei più illustri figli di Frattamaggiore, continua sulla stessa linea di metodo la lunga serie delle pregevoli opere con le quali Egli, figlio altrettanto illustre dell’antica e nobile città, ha risvegliato il culto delle memorie storiche nel corso di una lunga vita di studi. Finalità precipue di tutti i suoi scritti sono state sempre quelle di rimuovere la polvere del tempo e preservare dall’oblio dei posteri eventi e personaggi della sua terra. In altri termini riascoltare quella che Friedrich Nieztsche, il filosofo romantico per carattere e poeta per vocazione, definiva tout court “la parola del passato che è sempre simile alla sentenza dell’oracolo”. E Simocatta Teofilatto, scrittore bizantino del VII secolo, con maggiore incisività lessicale, aveva affermato lo stesso concetto testualmente: ‘Se nel tuo cuore non canta il poema delle antiche memorie, tu non sei un uomo e non puoi vantarti di essere membro di una nobile città”. Di Giulio Genoino il Capasso delinea un profilo ampio e puntuale. Si sofferma sull’uomo, sulla famiglia, sulla Patria, tracciando della sua arte, che spazia su molteplici aspetti, un’accurata rassegna e inquadrando nel suo tempo quest’uomo straordinario su cui la critica coeva e successiva si è espressa con unanime considerazione e incondizionato apprezzamento.
