Keywords: Analysis on Students’ Errors, Writing Descriptive, SMA Negeri 37 Jakarta This study is aimed to find out the types and causes of errors did students’ make in descriptive writing. The subject research was 30 students in the first grade students of SMAN 37 Jakarta. In doing this research, the writer used descriptive analysis based on qualitative and quantitative. The instrument of this research is an essay test. The students were asked to write a descriptive text with the topic has given. In this research, the writer used classification of errors based on Heidi Dullay’s book to know the types of errors students’ made in descriptive writing and to know the causes of errors according to Hubbard. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the types of errors did the students’ make in descriptive writing are omission (40.21%), addition (22.98%), misformation (33.42%) and misordering (3.39%). In the meantime, this occurred because of mother- tongue interference, overgeneralization and errors encouraged by teaching material or method. iii ABSTRAK Amelia, Rizki. 2013. Kata Kunci: Analisa kesalahan siswa, Menulis Deskriptif, SMAN 37 Jakarta Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui tipe dan penyebab kesalahan yang di buat oleh siswa dalam penulisan deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah 30 orang siswa kelas sepuluh di SMAN 37 Jakarta. Dalam penelitian ini penulis menggunakan analisis deskriptif berdasarkan kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah sebuah tes essai. Siswa diminta untuk menulis sebuah teks deskriptif dengan topik yang telah diberikan. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan klasifikasi kesalahan berdasarkan teori Heidi Dullay untuk mengetahui tipe kesalahan yang di buat siswa dalam menulis deskriptif dan untuk mengetahui penyebab kesalahan menurut Hubbard. Berdasarkan hasil penemuan penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa jenis kesalahan yang di buat siswa dalam penulisan deskriptif mencakup: omission (40.21%), addition (22.98%), misformation (33.42%) dan misordering (3.39%). In this article I provide a brief history of Hallyu, noting its mix of cultural and economic characteristics, and then analyse the reception of the phenomenon in the Arab Middle East by considering fan activity on social media platforms. I then conclude by discussing the cultural, political and economic benefits of Hallyu to Korea and indeed the wider world. For the sake of convenience, I will be using the term Hallyu (or Neo-Hallyu) rather than the Korean Wave throughout my paper.     The K-pop Wave: An Economic Analysis Patrick A. Messerlin1 Wonkyu Shin2 (new revision October 6, 2013) ABSTRACT This paper first shows the key role of the Korean entertainment firms in the K-pop wave: they have found the right niche in which to operate— the ‘dance-intensive’ segment—and worked out a very innovative mix of old and new technologies for developing the Korean comparative advantages in this segment. Secondly, the paper focuses on the most significant features of the Korean market which have contributed to the K-pop success in the world: the relative smallness of this market, its high level of competition, its lower prices than in any other large developed country, and its innovative ways to cope with intellectual property rights issues. Thirdly, the paper discusses the many ways the K-pop wave could ensure its sustainability, in particular by developing and channeling the huge pool of skills and resources of the current K- pop stars to new entertainment and art activities.     International Journal of Communication 13(2019), 2094–2115 1932–8036/20190005 Snack Culture’s Dream of Big-Screen Culture: Korean Webtoons’ Transmedia Storytelling DAL YONG JIN1 Simon Fraser University, Canada The sociocultural reasons for the growth of webtoons as snack culture and snack culture’s influence in big-screen culture have received little scholarly attention. By employing media convergence supported by transmedia storytelling as a theoretical framework alongside historical and textual analyses, this article historicizes the emergence of snack culture. It divides the evolution of snack culture—in particular, webtoon culture—to big-screen culture into three periods according to the surrounding new media ecology. Then it examines the ways in which webtoons have become a resource for transmedia storytelling. Finally, it addresses the reasons why small snack culture becomes big-screen culture with the case of Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds, which has transformed from a popular webtoon to a successful big-screen movie.
