  • Eric Andre Returning to Tour Australia & New Zealand in May 2017 After Selling out His Debut Run of Shows!
ERIC ANDRE RETURNING TO TOUR AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND IN MAY 2017 AFTER SELLING OUT HIS DEBUT RUN OF SHOWS! Currently in Australia for his sold-out run of debut shows, Frontier Comedy are thrilled to announce that Eric Andre will return to our shores in May 2017 for his biggest Australian shows to date and first ever Auckland shows. Fans Down Under cannot get enough of Eric; his debut tour sold out in just days with an extra Sydney show added to meet massive demand and record-breaking attendances in Melbourne. Both Comic’s Lounge shows saw Eric pull the biggest crowds the venue had ever seen - breaking the attendance record previously held by Jim Jefferies in 2012 - with audiences treated to a special surprise appearance from The Eric Andre Show co-host Hannibal Buress. ★★★★½ ‘Anyone looking for a night of chaotic and disorderly comedy need look no further. Andre has every surprise up his sleeve and then some when it comes to the ultimate showing of weird and wonderful.’ - The Music ‘One of the most off-kilter and versatile comedians on planet earth.’ - VICE Boundary-pushing comedian and the world’s most unstable talk show host Eric Andre has been perplexing and provoking audiences with late night cult hit The Eric Andre Show since 2012, where he’s made Tyler The Creator cry, exposed himself to Seth Rogen, and covered Ariel Pink in toilet water. But he's been bringing the laughs long before then with his daring and inventive approach to stand-up. Every bit as uproarious as he is bizarre, Andre's unyielding enthusiasm, infectious energy and surrealist humour have him consistently selling out venues across the US and Canada.

Jim Jefferies Biography Jim Jefferies is one of the most popular and respected comedians of his generation, entertaining audiences across the globe with his provocative, belief-challenging, and thought-provoking comedy. He was recently named one of the top 5 touring comedians in the world. After receiving rave reviews for his 2018 international stand up tour, The Unusual Punishment Tour, Jim is back on the road with an entirely new routine for his The Night Talker Tour, which he’ll be performing internationally and nationally through November 2019. Jim recently signed a first look deal with Comedy Central for content development in television and digital media. Additionally, Jim’s eponymous Comedy Central series, The Jim Jefferies Show debuted its third season on March 19, 2019 at 10:30pm ET / PT. As a strong voice in late night, the weekly series features Jim traveling across the globe to tackle the top news stories and controversial issues of the day. In addition to the series, Jim also continues to head up the weekly podcast series, The Jim Jefferies Show Podcast, co-hosted by Forrest Shaw. The podcast, from Comedy Central's Podcast Network includes interviews and discussions with a variety of guests discussing current news and politics, as well as providing a more in-depth focus on the topics and opinions featured on the television series - with less filters. In 2018, Jim starred in his third Netflix comedy special Jim Jefferies: This Is Me Now. Performing at the Eventim Apollo in London, he unapologetically kept it real opening up the challenges of being a single father, as well as, the weirdest gig he ever played.

  • Factors and Conditions That Influence the Perception
TANULMÁNYOK 2020/1. Bölcsészettudományi Kar, Újvidék STUDIJE 2020/1. Filozofski fakultet, Novi Sad STUDIES 2020/1. Faculty of Philosophy, Novi Sad ETO: 81’23 ORIGINAL SCIENTIFIC PAPER 616.89-008.444.7 DOI: 10.19090/tm.2020.1.47-63 Submitted: 21 January, 2020 Accepted for publishing: 1 April, 2020 Roland-Attila SZABÓ Partium Christian University Department of Languages and Literatures Oradea, Romania [email protected] FACTORS AND CONDITIONS THAT INFLUENCE THE PERCEPTION OF OFFENSIVE HUMOR Faktori i uslovi koji utiču na percepciju uvredljivog humora A sértő humor értelmezését befolyásoló tényezők és feltételek The study is derived from a larger study, namely the author’s PhD dissertation, and it gives an overview of and illustrates the most essential factors that maneuver utterances into being perceived as humorous and/or offensive in the context of performed, edgy stand-up comedy. The paper introduces basic humor and offensive humor theories as well as certain pragmatic mechanisms that lie beneath the process which starts with the utterance and ends with the perlocutionary effect on the audience. The study elaborates on offensive humor theories, conventions of stand-up comedy, pragmatic concepts, the contrast between offensiveness and immorality, which is all complemented by a brief psychological perspective, linking people’s reactions to the notion of harm and one’s level of self-esteem. The pragmatic insight into the factors that make offensive humor function points at the necessity of strong, non-conventional, and complex stimuli, perceived and comprehended by the audience, based on which the offensive layer can be constructed. Keywords: offensive humor, stand-up comedy, pragmatics Introduction The role of humor from a social point of view is generally thought to induce laughter, arouse good mood, and – an important point in stand-up comedy – lighten certain situations.
