When it comes to smart phones, it will inevitably refer to Steve Jobs, who invented many amazing technological products. This urged us to do some research on Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs’ full name was Steven Paul Jobs, but people usually called him Steve Jobs. He was born in San Francisco, and because of some reasons, Steve Jobs was adopted by a couple, and they treated him well. After graduating from Homestead High School, he studied in Reed College; however, he only studied for one semester, and dropped out owing to economic factors. Even though he didn’t finish the study in college, he was recognized as a charismatic leader of the personal computer revolution. People view Steve Jobs as a famous business man, and of course we are no exception. One day, we watched a video named “Stay hungry, stay foolish.” The video described Steven Jobs was giving a speech to Stanford University graduates. After watching it, we were raised up by his talk, and admired him deeply; therefore, we desired to know more about him. The purpose of the study is to let us have a better understanding about Steve Jobs, such as, his life, his personality, his thinking and so on. It will make us understand why he was successful. We want to know that how much perspiration he had behind Apple’s success, and to learn his spirit, his courage, and his indomitable spirit. We also can learn how he taught his employees as well. The study aims to provide an answer to the following questions: Q1: What’s his personality? Q2: What made him become so successful? Q3: How many setbacks and failures had he undergone? Q4: How much perspiration had he paid for Apple? 1 Steve Jobs and His Business The result of this study could be useful to understand deeply about Steve Jobs. In addition to those references, we also included the information from journals. Furthermore, Steve Jobs’ speech, interview, and experiences from the video clips are also part of our sources. It is hoped that we can have a further understanding of his life from different perspectives. III. Thesis A. About Steve Jobs 1. His Family Steve Jobs was born in San Francisco, California, USA. His father is Abdullah Fatah .John .money Delhi, and his mother is Joanne .mat Bell . Chand .Simpson. He has a sister named Mona Simpson. Job's parents decided to give Picture 1 Steve Jobs their child to somebody for adoption, but the From Official Website of Apple adopters must be college graduates. Then the family found a lawyer, but lawyer’s family wished to adopt a girl. The lawyer family thought about it for a while and they did not know how to make the decision. And then, it was Steve Job’s adoptive father that called for adopting him, but his birth parents were still hesitating. After a long period of observation, they finally agreed to put their son to the blue-collar family, but there were some conditions; for example, the child must to go to college some day. In 1972, Steve Jobs met his first girlfriend named Chris-Ann Brennan, and after six years, his first child, Lisa Brennan-Jobs was born. After she graduated from Harvard University, she became a writer for magazines. In the beginning, Steve Jobs didn’t want to admit the relationship with Lisa. Nevertheless, he later acknowledged Lisa as his daughter. Jobs later married Laurene Powell and had three children. 2 Steve Jobs and His Business 2. His Personality Steve Jobs was one of most controversial presidents in history because he was a very autocratic person. Besides, he was a picky perfectionist. Any detail was very important to him. He was a man of extreme contradictions; therefore, in his viewpoint there were only two kinds of people in the world. One is marked genius and the other, stupid. He was not only a super control freak, but set an example by himself. Steve Jobs could be a person who played two roles respectively because of his personality; he could play both a good man and a bad man. To the world, he brings creativity, taste, and dreams of the legendary. 3. His Study Every great person may have a special story, and Steve Jobs was no exception. His birth mother was an unmarried graduate who hoped the adoptive parents could let Jobs enter college. Steve Jobs graduated from a high school in California and entered a college at the age of 17. But after six months, Jobs found he had no aim in life and he didn’t know what he can do, so he decided to drop out of college. And then, he attained a class about calligraphy in Reed College, and surprisingly later he used the skill in Mac computer. Although he did not graduated from college, he learned what he liked and stuck to the spirit of “Never give up.” B. The Business of Steve Jobs 1. The followings are the aims of the three stages. 1. First stage: Let products be popular among young people and stand a firm position in the young customers. 2. The second stage: Make the customers solid, and spread the products to businessmen. 3. The last stage: Spread the products to the age, and to be the most popular 3C products whole world. Find new solutions to overcome insurmountable obstacles. 5. Tell the customers what they need, not wait for their response negatively. 6. All the products have relevance. 7. Standards of employees can not be stereotyped. 8. Encourage employees to think in different ways. 9. Simplify the product. 10. Apple sells a dream, not just a product. 2. • Steve Jobs Had an Early Skill for Innovation
Steve Jobs typifies the challenging and innovativeness of the tech business' spearheading business people. Worshiped by many, he has turned into a practically fanciful figure – a knight crusading for development and faultless structure. As CEO of Apple, Jobs made one of the most important and appreciated organizations on the planet and, alongside it, a progression of stunning items, including the iPhone. However, who, precisely, was the man behind the fantasy? Decent numerous stories have been told. Some considered Jobs to be a virtuoso and visionary pioneer, while others thought he was an affected snap, a determined stickler or a difficult half-virtuoso, half-butt face. This is the tale of how Steve Jobs turned into Steve Jobs we consider today. Steve Jobs had an early skill for innovation. Shortly after he was born on February 24, 1995, in San Francisco, Steve Jobs was set up for appropriation by his natural mother, Joanna Schieble. Thus, he grew up the child of Paul and Clara Jobs, a regular workers couple. Being embraced by Paul and Clara may have significantly added to his later work since Jobs immediately built up a sharp comprehension of innovation. Since his dad was an auto technician and skilled worker who made furnishings, there was a workbench in the family's carport and Jobs' dad showed him how to fabricate things, dismantle them and set up them back together once more. This training served him well; further down the road, Jobs thought back about how his dad instructed him to fill in as industriously on the underside of a bureau as on its completion when demonstrating the iPod to the creator.

  • Steve Jobs: the Next Insanely Great Thing | WIRED
10/26/2020 Steve Jobs: The Next Insanely Great Thing | WIRED GARY WOLF 02.01.1996 12:00 PM Steve Jobs: The Next Insanely Great Thing Steve Jobs has been right twice. The first time we got Apple. The second time we got NeXT. The Macintosh ruled. NeXT tanked. STEVE JOBS HAS been right twice. The first time we got Apple. The second time we got NeXT. The Macintosh ruled. NeXT tanked. Still, Jobs was right both times. Although NeXT failed to sell its elegant and infamously buggy black box, Jobs's fundamental insight---that personal computers were destined to be connected to each other and live on networks---was just as accurate as his earlier prophecy that computers were destined to become personal appliances. Now Jobs is making a third guess about the future. His passion these days is for objects. Objects are software modules that can be combined into new applications (see "Get Ready for Web Objects"), much as pieces of Lego are built into toy houses. Jobs argues that objects are the key to keeping up with the exponential growth of the World Wide Web. And it's commerce, he says, that will fuel the next phase of the Web explosion. On a foggy morning last year, I drove down to the headquarters of NeXT Computer Inc. in Redwood City, California, to meet with Jobs. The building was quiet and immaculate, with that atmosphere of low-slung corporate luxury typical of successful Silicon Valley companies heading into their second decade. Ironically, NeXT is not a success. After burning through hundreds of millions of dollars from investors, the company abandoned the production of computers, focusing instead on the sale and development of its Nextstep operating system and on extensions into object-oriented technology.

  • The Identification and Division of Steve Jobs
AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF Scott M. Anderson for the degree of Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in Speech Communication, Speech Communication, and English presented on May 17, 2012. Title: The Identification and Division of Steve Jobs Abstract approved: Mark P. Moore On April 1, 1976, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak entered into a partnership agreement to found Apple Computer. In the decade that followed, Apple experienced remarkable growth and success, as Jobs catapulted Apple to the Fortune 500 list of top‐flight companies faster than any other company in history. Under direction of Jobs, Apple, an idea that started in a garage, transformed into a major force in the computer industry of the 1980s. Though Jobs’ leadership undoubtedly influenced Apple’s success during this time, in 1995, he was forced to resign, when conflicts mounted at the executive level. Using Kenneth Burke’s theory of identification and the dramatistic process, this thesis examines Jobs’ discourse through a series of interviews and textual artifacts. First, I provide a framework for Jobs’ acceptance and rejection of the social order at Apple, and then consider the ways in which Jobs identified with employee and consumer audiences on the basis of division. Analysis shows that Jobs identified with individual empowerment, but valued separation and exclusivity. Jobs’ preference to create identification through division, therefore, established the foundation for new identifications to emerge. The findings of this study suggest that division has significant implications for creating unity. ©Copyright by Scott M. • Text 9 Steve Jobs Told Students: 'Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.'
Text 9 Steve Jobs told students: ‘Stay hungry. Stay foolish.’ The Washington Post, September 5 th 2011 Steve Jobs, the late Apple co-founder revealed in a commencement speech at Stanford University in 2005 why he dropped out of college - and why he thought it was one of the best things he ever did. Yet he had other advice for the students. Jobs started that speech by talking about being adopted as a baby, and why, 17 years later, he attended Reed College in Oregon for only six months before dropping out. He said: “My biological mother was a young, unwed college graduate student, and she decided to put me up for adoption. She felt very strongly that I should be adopted by college graduates but later found out that my mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated from high school. She refused to sign the final adoption papers. She only relented when my parents promised that I would someday go to college.” “And 17 years later I did go to college. But I naively chose a college that was almost as expensive as Stanford, and all of my working-class parents’ savings were being spent on my college tuition. After six months, I couldn’t see the value in it. So I decided to drop out and the minute I dropped out I could stop taking the required classes that didn’t interest me, and begin dropping in on the ones that looked interesting. And much of what I stumbled into by following my curiosity and intuition turned out to be priceless later on.

  • 40 Lessons from 40 Years of Apple Ads
40 Lessons from 40 Years of Apple Ads Apple was founded on April fools day in 1976. It’s first office was Steve Jobs’ parents’ garage: And it’s first products were humble: Steve Jobs was obsessed with poets, and he and Woz both drew inspiration from one of the best, Bob Dylan. Any great folklorist will tell you that Apple’s origins met the primary criteria for future exaltation. They were humble, poor, and hard working. From those origins, Apple has grown to a global behemoth with over $269 billion dollars in the bank. One of the (many) things that helped Apple get to where it is today is a mastery of advertising. This article presents 40 of the best Apple ads over 40 years and draws 40 lessons from each. It spans 1977’s “Simplicity” all the way to “The Rock x Siri Dominate the Day.” 1977 — “Simplicity” (https://archive.org/details/Apple_II_-_Simplicity_is_the_ultimate_sophistication) “Apple II will change the way you think about computers.” This is an introduction to the Apple II. It displays the features of the device with a clear emphasis on personal computing. The idea of having a personal computer was very new at the time; many people didn’t think there was a use for a computer at home. The lesson: When you’re introducing something new, keep it simple. 1978 — “Bestselling” (http://www.macmothership.com/gallery/MiscAds/a2bestselling1.jpg) “Since we developed Apple II in April 1977, more people have chosen our computer than all other personal computers combined.” Apple opens the brochure with the above quote, providing social proof from buyers.
