Daily Bulletin Page 5 JUST FOR NEW PLAYERS Perseverence pays off By Lynn Berg On a day when the Daily Bulletin showed the champions of the Life Master Pairs winning 125 Masterpoints, Jerry and Rochelle Goldstein were thrilled to win their very first point. The Wellington FL couple have gone to some trouble to get here: Jerry has a motorized scooter and has trouble getting around. They played Friday and Saturday in the 0-20, Bridge Plus+ and 0- 5/20 games without scratching, but they love the game and stayed on. Rochelle and Jerry Goldstein On Sunday, they attended Marti Ronemus’ Easybridge! class with 63 others, and then stayed for the 7.5- table game that followed. Patience and perseverance paid off: the Goldsteins won a point. And ACBL benefited, too. Jerry was already a member, and Rochelle was so excited by their success that she joined, too. Rochelle told TD Judy Cotterman that they had to go home “just when we started a winning streak,” but they were trying to figure out how to stay or to come back again. That’s as big a success for ACBL as that 125 points won elsewhere in the building.
