Looking within …

Do you know what you are? Someone wrote: “You are a manuscript of a divine letter. You are a mirror reflecting a noble face.” Look inside yourself; everything that you need to find, you will find there.

If you look to others for fulfilment, you will never truly be fulfilled. If your happiness depends on money, you will never be happy with yourself. Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realise there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.

“Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” - Carl Jung

Loving God, be with me as I look within, that I may find your divine spark there, along with everything I could need; and in finding the spark, may I rejoice in you. Amen.

People often talk about things that go on 'behind the scenes' or 'behind closed doors' and so this month's Archive photograph begins by looking within an old building on the Market Place. Going back in time to the 1940's this was the packing shed of Sheringham and Overman's seed business where fleeces were packed into heavy sacks to be loaded onto their lorry. The workers from left to right are Jack Wright, Mr Southgate and Reggie Hawes. The picture was donated by Leslie Mitchell. Howard Young
