David Ellison of Greenwell topping the sale with a homebred Lim cow weighing 795kg at 206p grossing £1637. Other CTL cows 140-160p for both feeding and killing types. Well fleshed B + cows regularly 140-150p/kg, the very best British Friesian from Messrs Polkinghorne weighing in at 715kg grossing £1358 (190p/kg). A number of OTM or underage B + W hfrs forward making top side of 180p, the best from Gowrey Farm at 199p/kg. More cattle required. Any amount of the strongest calves £450-£500, topping the sale was TD&V Whitaker at £530 with a super Blue Bull, others to £480 & £475 from Dave Harrison, Wray. Best of the Angus’ from M&D Stable topping the section at £500, John & Brian Lawson just shy of the weekly top spot with his pair of bulls at £480, heifers from the same home at £335. Blue heifers to a high of £500 & £480 from Dave & Chris Gardner, Quernmore, whilst the younger sorts looking sharper still either side of £330. A nice run of 20day old Beef Shorthorn and Angus Calves from Cote Farm Partner- ship look well sold £280-£320 for bulls and heifers. A lovely group of 8 Lim and Sim x calves from Fishwick Farms hit a high of £405 for the bulls and £400 for the heifers. Best Holstein Friesian Bulls at £340, £352 & £360, from Tom Stables, other top end sorts £260-£310 with the next draw £160-£230 with the nice milky calves often £100-£140 averaging an aston- ishing £199. Fishwick Farms again showed some quality outfits topping at £300 for a pair of Texel ewes with twin gimmer lambs. Others in the £290-£295 range and singles to £250. Suffolk x ewes & twins to £240 from Chris Heslop of Harrogate. Hampshire ewes with strong single lambs from Messrs Thexton of Askham in Furness making £220. Mule ewes with twins harder to sell on the week generally £165-£180 topping at £192. All classes once again in strong demand with something to suit all requirements with added enthusiasm as we approach the end of Ramadan. Plenty of lightweight and hill types once again in the total entry with a pleasing average of £106.24 a head being achieved. Rams in strong demand with 2 Texels from P Lamb of Stockport topping at £210 with Messrs Errington to £205 and a pen of 6 from P & I Tu- plin of Skegness to £200. Best bred ewes £160-£190 with J Stenton of Pickering selling Charollais to £196.50. Heavy ewes £140-£170 with leaner good selling sorts £110- £140. Plain ewes i.e lambing casualties £70-£90. Heavy Mule ewes £125-£138 with T Sayer of Penrith to £139. Next cut down £110-£120 with plain £90-£110. Strong horned ewes once again £100+ with Lonks to £123.50. Small meaty types £80-£95 with mediums £70+ and plain £50-£60. Hill rams to £126.50 for Swales from D & V Lawson.
