WORK EXPERIENCE Freedom Boat Club (Cornelius NC), Dockhand, May 2017- Present. My duties working at Freedom Boat Club included maintaining a fleet of 30+ boats, helping inexperienced boaters dock/operate boats, fuel, and clean/detail. Peninsula Yacht Club, Sailing Instructor/Special Events, Summer 2016 At the Peninsula Yacht Club I mainly worked with the sailing camp and sailing team but occasionally helped with special events. One of the graduation requirements for graduating from Pine Lake Preparatory School is a two-year project that involves a 12-page research paper (Junior Year) and a 15-minute presentation/product (Senior Year). The project was to investigate a career that peaked our interest. My choice was a Financial Advisor. During Junior year I conducted an in-depth interview and cited it as a source in my paper to move into senior year. However, during senior year I completed 15 hours of shadowing a financial advisor, Bryan Stanfill, during which I learned what a regular day is like in this field. I sat through multiple meetings with clients and other personnel while also gaining an in-depth understanding of what being in this career would mean. To graduate, I presented a 15 presentation and presented my “Pride Product.” The point of the Pride Product was to demonstrate what this career would be providing to society. For my Product, I completed three separate portfolios for different clients. One high risk for a younger client with a longer earning potential, one medium risk for a middle- aged client that is approximately halfway through their career, and a low-risk portfolio for an older retiree. I feel that through this two-year project I gained a unique look into a field that I still find intriguing.
