Tet Schedule 2018 ESSEX AND SUFFOLK HUNT BRANCH OF THE PONY CLUB JUNIOR TETRATHLON WATER HOUSE FARM, LOWER LAYHAM, nr HADLEIGH, SUFFOLK IP7 5RA (by kind permission of Mr & Mrs RWL Cranfield) Tuesday 7th August 2018 The course may be walked from 4- 6pm on Monday 6th August or on the morning of the event. Class Age (as at 1.1.2018) SHOOT SWIM RIDE RUN 1.Tadpoles 8 years and under Beanbags target 1.5 mins 45cm approx 750m 60cm approx 2. Minimus 10 years and under 7m (2 hands) 1.5 mins (Or 45cm with 500 750m point penalty) 75cm approx 3. Maximus 12 years and under 7m (2 hands) 2 mins (Or 60cm with 500 1000m point penalty) 4. Junior 14 years and under 7m (1 hand) 2 mins 80cm approx 1500m All classes will be divided into boys and girls. PLEASE SUPPLY YOUR OWN CROSS COUNTRY BIB RULES 1. Event will be run under Pony Club Tetrathlon Rules 2018 amended to local conditions and organisers’ decision on the in- terpretation of any rule is final. Please see notice boards at Secretary’s trailer and entrance to shooting area. 2. Competition age as at 1.1.2018. No child under 8 years old on the day of the competition may shoot. 3. In Class 1 ponies may be led or accompanied but will incur a penalty of 300 points. 4. In Class 2 children may jump either the 2’ or 1’6” course, the latter incurring a penalty of 500 points. In Class 3 children may jump either the 2’6” or 2’ course the latter incurring a penalty of 500 points. Course selected to be declared at entry please . NO CHANGES CAN BE ACCOMMODATED THEREAFTER DUE TO TIMINGS. All classes will have several L fence alternatives. 5. All guns must be carried in a box by someone 18 years or over. Competitors without their own gun may hire one at a cost of £4. This requirement must be declared on the entry form. 6. Substantial shoes (that do not reach the ankle bone but which cover the foot - e.g. trainers) and long trousers must be worn during the shoot phase. 7. Dogs must be kept on leads and only in the lorry field. 8. A maximum of two classes may be entered. No pony may compete more than twice but siblings may share the same pony. 9. Neither the organisers nor anyone on their behalf accepts liability for any damage, accident, injury or loss in respect of competitors, ponies or any other person. 10. Body protectors to current Pony Club standards and medical armbands must be worn for the Riding phase. 11. All competitors must wear hats to current Pony Club standards and hats must be PC tagged. 12. If you are unable to attend prize giving, rosettes will not be forwarded unless a stamped addressed envelope is given to the Secretary. PHOTOGRAPHS Please be aware that a professional photographer will be taking photographs at the event as also may par- ents and other spectators. HEALTH AND SAFETY - the organisers of this event have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent ac- cidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organisers, officials and stewards.     November 2017 Boxford • Edwardstone • Groton • Little Waldingfield • Newton Green Vol 17 No 11 AB FLAGo FORx SU FFROLK iver News Back in July, the Society was approached by the Assistant County Flags Officer at the Association of British Counties (ABC), with respect to Suffolk adopting its own County Flag, for subsequent registration with the Flag Institute, the body running the national registry of flags. The Flag Institute is apparently the world’s leading research and documentation centre for flags and flag information. The Institute is also the largest vexillological (The study of flags) membership organisation in the world, and was founded on St. George’s Day, 23 April, 1971. After a quick double-take, I confirmed the legitimacy of the request, which was for Little Waldingfield History Society, as a Suffolk based organisation, to lend its support to the cause. At the time Suffolk was one of just four English counties without a registered county flag, which meant we could not participate in the display of registered County Flags in Parliament Square each July in celebration of ‘County Flags Day’. The Trustees were all in favour, as were our membership, who were keen for this to happen – happily it now has. As the ABC say on their website: The Flag Institute has today (9th October) added the flag of Suffolk to its registry. A banner of the traditional arms of Saint Edmund, the county’s patron saint, the Flag Institute agreed to register the design in September 2017 following its display by Suffolk County Council on the inaugural “Suffolk Day”, June 21st 2017 and a subsequent request for its registration by twenty-one county organisations.
