    133 PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH GOVERNMENT IN SUFFOLK, 1643-1647. • BY V. B. REDSTONE. INTRODUCTION. " The Church of Christ admits of no other bcrovern- ment than that -by -presbyteries, viz., by the minister, elders, and deacons ; each parish should have its 'own presbytery ; the choice of ministers of necessity belongs to the people," Such were the doctrines, of the early Puritans, and such was the system of Church ,goverhiheht which --regulated •the ecclesiastical affairs of the parish, where there, was sufficient influence to secure its establish- ment during the years 1643-1647. " All ecclesiastical government in: the parishes was vested in a pastor,:.elders, deacons, and widows. The ministers of twelve: parishes combined to form a classis to handle matters common 'to. the parishes: ' Delegates from the ministers and :elders of twenty-fbur classes formed a provincial synod Or council, and the delegates from these synods formed the. national Synod or general assembly." It was considered necessary to reform the -Church, not to.alter it. If the .surplice,r-kneeling at Communion, the ring in marriage, the cross in baptism, and the like were omitted, and a careful revision of the wording -of the Cominon Prayer Book-made, the Church would have been brought back by this- purification to its early simPlicity of ritual. The Puritan ,movement desired a -more learned ministry in the Established Church.     SUFFOLK BETTER BROADBAND PROGRAMME NEWSLETTER - AUTUMN 2014 MESSAGE FROM MARK “Exciting time for the Suffolk Better Broadband Programme! Our first tranche of rollouts are going extremely well. We are now well over halfway through our rollout process, and moving into more and more rural areas. We are also continuing to deliver upgrades to people connected directly to the telephone exchange, and therefore ordinarily not able to access fibre broadband. As usual, the tables overleaf contain lists of areas which have gone live last quarter, and also those planned to be live by Christmas. In this edition, we have also added in some additional information about detailed progress with the upgrades, as we are very aware that people spot these green cabinets shooting up everywhere, and want to know when they are live! The reality is that this is the easy bit, and we then have to connect them up to fibre, which often has to travel tens of kilometres to reach them. We also have to arrange for UK Power Networks to come out and connect the power up, and also negotiate way leaves and permissions for ducts and poles. In addition to our first contract, which will increase the existing coverage achieved by commercial companies to 85%, we have made great strides with solutions for those who are in the other 15% of the county. I should highlight that these are not just rural areas; some of our major towns are still struggling and awaiting upgrades. To address this remaining 15%, we are pleased to announce that we have signed a second contract.

Both the Boxford Society and the YourBoxford groups submitted well thought out and professional objections to this site for affordable housing, based on existing regulations. Unfortunately none of our concerns were discussed nor were we able to put questions on the planning application to the Parish Council. It is a sad day when concerned residents who are anxious to work with the Councillors for the best outcome for villagers who are to be rehomed in Boxford, have been dismissed There were two residents who spoke in favour of the site, stating they were concerned their children would not be able to live in the village in the future. Details of our concerns and residents comments can be found on the Yourboxford.org website.     for Issue Feb 2019 Connecting Communities ince becoming leader of Suffolk County Council, I have continued to keep broadband at the top of my agenda. I am pleased to tell you that the Better Broadband for Suffolk program has Sreached a new milestone, 93% of homes and businesses across Suffolk can now upgrade to a Superfast Broadband service. This is fantastic news and means an overwhelming majority of residents, businesses and organisations can now enjoy the benefits of faster and more reliable internet speeds. But as a resident and a councillor of a rural ward where some premises still do not enjoy these benefits, I know we have further to go. We already have a contract in place for Openreach to extend fibre broadband coverage to 98% of all Suffolk premises by 2020. But even beyond this, we are committed to reaching 100% Superfast Broadband coverage in Suffolk as quickly as possible. So, if you haven’t already done so, check if Superfast Broadband is available where you live by following the simple steps below, but don’t forget, even if broadband is available, you will need to upgrade your connection to enjoy the benefits of the higher speeds. Timber framed and plastered with plaintiled roof. 4 external chimney stacks, 3 set against the rear wall and one on the east gable end. C18-C19 windows and doors.
