Additionally, Ajin can create "black ghosts", which are highly dangerous combat-oriented entities that are invisible to normal humans and only visible to other Ajin. Different "black ghosts" have varying degrees of intelligence. For example, most "black ghosts" are completely reliant on their Ajin for directions, and others, such as that of Kei's, are more independent and likely to engage in self-initiated actions. Consequently, Ajin are considered dangerous and inhuman by the public, and most are captured by governments. On paper, governments claim to protect Ajin, but in reality, most governments use them as subjects for cruel and inhumane experiments, as their abilities to completely recover from fatal wounds provides an unlimited source of organs and bodies in dangerous tests such as live-fire weapons testing. As a result, Ajin that have escaped from government custody such as Satou, the main antagonist are bent on exacting revenge from governments — with the exception of Kei, who wants no part in the emerging Ajin-human conflict. However, in an agreement with Japanese governmental agents, Kei agrees to fight against Satou in exchange for his freedom from government experimentation. I'm loving the great action, the interesting characters, and the great plot flow that continues to reveal a little more about the Demi-humans and Ajin: Demi-Human Vol. 8: Volume 8 abilities every volume. Nagai and Nakano play off each other really well, neither being 'good guys', but who have personalities and motivations that seem to compliment each other. Sato's solution of getting into the facility and foiling their every plan makes him one of my favorite villains in some time. He feels believably dangerous. The IBMs continue to be bad-ass in whatever scene they're Ajin: Demi-Human Vol. 8: Volume 8. The back and forth between Nagai and Sato is Ajin: Demi-Human Vol. 8: Volume 8 and gripping. I'm eager to continue the series and hope it continues to get better. As it stands, its shaping up to being one of my favorite series. I wholeheartedly recommend it. I just finished Immortal Hounds volume 3 by the same company, and found the paper quality of that one not as good. I really hope Vertical isn't cheapening out. Ko Ransom does the translation and it feels smooth. It reads well and there wasn't any translation notes added, that I can remember anyway. One thing I LOVE about this series is that Sakurai or someone responsible for this title's creation lists the assistants and what work they did on the book. The Japanese comic scene is notorious for excluding credit of the assistants, who often do a lot to produce the comics there. Especially with backgrounds and toning. It makes me really happy to see their work recognized and listed. Wow, this one really pumps up the action! Manages to introduce once again Ajin: Demi-Human Vol. 8: Volume 8 new angles, conflicts and tricks. The series really grows on with new ideas. Sato takes the bait and invades the Forge Security Building. This is the best book in this series so far. Kei ingeniously takes out Sato's men, inviting Sato to come have a little 'fun'. The villain in this story, Sato, has clearly had time to think and experiment on how his being unable to die can make him a better killer.
