RWT in partnership with The University of Wolverhampton, Academic Institute of Medicine (AIM) is excited to have developed the Clinical Fellowship Programme. Applications are invited for Fellowship posts to work across acute/general medicine and its specialties to commence in August 2016. Appointments are for 12 months in the first instance with the possibility of extension to 2 years. The posts are being offered at 1st year Core Trainee level or higher and the appointment would be at a grade based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant. Successful applicants will work in a dynamic friendly environment in general and acute medicine combined with a medical specialty of their choice as expressed within the application form. Opportunities exist to work in Emergency Medicine within the Urgent and Emergency Care Centre (UECC). Although the posts are of non-training grade, there will be direct Consultant supervision and an educational programme including annual appraisal, 4-monthly supervisor meetings, access to an e-portfolio, study leave and a study leave budget. There will be a specific programme of protected teaching and a wide range of other clinical training activities including Core Curriculum Teaching, PACES teaching, a weekly grand round and departmental specific meetings. Post holders will be encouraged to undertake audit, quality improvement projects, to pursue Membership examinations in their chosen specialty and opportunities in medical education or research. Post holders would be strongly encouraged to register for a Masters qualification in General Medicine or one of its specialties with our partner Postgraduate Medical School, the University of Wolverhampton Academic Institute of Medicine (AIM). Subject to satisfactory progress, this will be fully funded and protected time will be allocated. As part of this it is expected the post holder will undertake a clinical project leading to presentations at meetings and publications. These posts will be tailored to suit doctors at several stages of their career including: • Post Foundation and Core Medical Trainees seeking next step experience • Specialist Trainees seeking out of programme experience, attainment of specific expertise, credentialing in a subspecialty and project or research opportunities • Overseas doctors seeking UK NHS experience • Doctors seeking to enhance their portfolio to gain entry to the training grades 1 Clinical Fellowship Programme • Doctors who seek to progress to Consultant grade by applying for the Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) • Doctors already in non-training grade positions e.g. SAS doctors or Trust Fellows who are seeking a formal educational structure to their posts and wish to pursue higher qualifications built in to the these posts If our vision, and this role, excites you then we do hope you will apply.
