Hessen Germany Hessen is a German state in the heart of Europe. In addition to excellent study and research opportunities at some of Germany's leading universities, Hessen has a diverse and picturesque countryside, is full of culture and history and at the same time vibrant and modern. Half-timbered houses, medieval churches and castles of your childhood fairytales contrast modern cosmopolitan cities like Frankfurt, Hessen's major international financial and logistics hub. Originally this was a Hessen-Queensland Program where Queensland students were offered the opportunity to study at a university in Hessen for one or two semesters. Now this open to all ACU students regardless of the state you live in. The students gain experience in studying and living in Germany and have the chance to give their studies a European dimension. Courses held at Hessen state universities are free of charge for Hessen and international students except of fees for welfare services and regional public transportation (Semesterticket). The program does not cover travel, visa, medical and living expenses in Germany. The objective of the Hessen Program is to foster collaboration between institutions of higher education in both states. The intention is now to promote the exchange of students and staff between Australia and Hessen. It is supported by the Ministry for Education, Queensland Government and the Ministry for Higher Education Research, and the Arts, Hessen Government.
