We made a unique Excalibur guitar for him which features a flat fingerboard with probably the lowest string action in guitar-making history. He played this guitar from the day he got it, until the day he sadly died in 2003. We kindly thank his family for allowing us to continue building Shawn's signature guitar series.     Roger Glover Urodzony w Walii muzyk, kompozytor i producent. Basista zespołu Deep Purple. Karierę muzyczną rozpoczął na początku lat 60. jako członek zespołów z The Madisons i The Lightnings, z których połączenia w 1963 r. powstała grupa Episode Six. To wtedy rozpoczęła się trwająca do dzisiaj współpraca Glovera z Ianem Gillanem. W 1969 r. artyści opuścili zespół, żeby dołączyć do nowego składu Deep Purple. Po czterech latach grania z legendarną grupą Glover odszedł z formacji. Wystąpił gościnnie na płytach wielu wykonawców. W latach 70. był producentem płyt m.in. grup Nazareth i Judas Priest. Wspierał także powrót do działalności muzycznej Iana Gillana, produkując pierwszy album jego grupy „Child In Time” z 1976 r. Rok później, w studiu Musicland w Monachium, Glover zarejestrował materiał na swoją drugą solową płytę – „Elements”, w większości instrumentalną suitę o pięciu ziemskich żywiołach. Pod koniec 1978 r. Glover przyjął propozycję Ritchie’go Blackmore'a i dołączył do grupy Rainbow. Oprócz roli basisty zajął się również produkcją płyt zespołu, a także był współodpowiedzialny za zmianę wizerunku Rainbow na bardziej komercyjny. Po rozwiązaniu Rainbow w 1984 r. Roger przeszedł wraz z Blackmorem do reaktywowanego Deep Purple. Prace nad płytą „Snapshot” Glover rozpoczął w latach 90. Pierwsze potwierdzone informacje na jej temat pojawiły się w 1999 r. His autobiography suggests he spent a great deal of time either drinking or in search of drink, but he was a social drinker who drank to get drunk, rather than someone who needed a bottle next to him at all times, he says.

    Deep Purple – Now What! Deep Purple have never really been a favourite band of mine if I’m honest. I used to find their music ok when I was younger but the Concerto for Rock Band and Orchestra has always held my attention; not because it’s a great piece of music, but to me, it was a really interesting experiment trying to gel two completely different genres together. In fact, opposites really. First of all, the problem of ‘dynamic’ differences is quite large but also the massive differences in attitude, style and basic sound. They just don’t fit together that well if each needs to retain its identity. Too often, an orchestra ends up playing a pseudo intelligent backing for a band in order to give it more ‘respect’ or the band tries to play in a ‘classical’ kind of way which really stilts them. The two don’t sit together well in my opinion. Deep Purple’s concerto retains each genres’ identities and even makes use of the massive contrasts available. Jon Lord’s last recording of it merges the two well although the original big ‘rock’ feel is somewhat compromised and the piece has been mixed into a more palatable mix with compromises made from both sides in order to get it to hold together perhaps better as a composition. Real old Deep Purple never really did it for me. ‘Child in Time’ was good but once heard, I found that I didn’t particularly want to revisit it. Same for a lot of their other stuff for me.
