Fibreglass Flagship Feadship Launches Como

Feadship has launched the 46.22m semi-displacernent motoryacht Como, created for the highly experienced yachtsman Neville Crichton. Mr Crichton decided the time had come to commission an entirely custom superyacht of the highest possible quality. Hugely influenced by his ideas regarding design aesthetics and the lavish use of glass, Como is a triumph in every respect. "Having built many yachts in New Zeatand, my choice of Feadship came after a careful and extensive examination of its expertise and facilities," comments Neville Crichton. "I am pleased to be able to report that Feadship has exceeded my expectations. ~

H1 is the first yacht of the new SL118 line recently launched at the Sanlorenzo shipyard. The 36.5m Sanlorenzo SL118 becomes the new flagship of the historic planing hull ranga of yachts. In today's nautical market, Sanlorenzo decided to produce a new flagship that encloses innovative soIutions and large spaces, without altering the traditional family feeling that characterises Sanlorenzo models.

Sunseeker for Formula I Pilot New Perini Navi CEO

The Board of Directors of Perini Navi has appointed Enrico Dell'Artino, who was already a board member, j as the company's new CEO. The appointment follows the resignation for personal reasons of Giancarlo Ragnetti, who will stay on as board member. Mr Dell'Artino has a broad experience of managing industriai companies. both natianal and multinational and will be supported by Surak AkgOl, Director of Sales, Marketing and Design and Vanni Marchini, Director of Operations.

The eager1y anticipated Sunseeker 155 Yacht, Slush, was launched into the water far the very first time at tOO Sunseeker International shipyard in January. The seatrials were scheduled to take pIace in February befare the 155 Yacht will be delivered to its new owner, Eddie Jordan, in early spring. Italian yacht builder Sanlorenzo has launched superyacht O, the first in its new SD112 series.

Sanlorenzo has launched its first SD112 superyacht named O

The 33.6 metre SD112 yacht was designed to fit in nicely to the Sanlorenzo SD (semi-displacement hull) superyacht lineup between the 38m SD122 and the 28m SD92. While this is the first SD112 to be launched, six units of the hull have already been sold, a fact, which Sanlorenzo says, is a testament to, ‘balance achieved with the SD112 model in terms of design, volume and performance,’ in the Sanlorenzo SD lineup.

The tri-deck yacht has a sleek exterior styling and carries forward feature of the SD range, such as curved doors and lateral windows and the Sanrlonezo SD air funnel up top, channeling the look of 1930s cruiser liners, yet the SD112 also introduces new design ideas to the series, including foldable terraces off the main saloon.

Superyacht O’s sun deck hosts a large Jacuzzi, sunpads, and space for al fresco entertaining. The owner, who came from Central America to celebrate the launch, had a great deal of input on the interior, which has a modern design with appointments from Italian brands such as like Edra, Minotti and Paola Lenti sofas, Enzo degli Angioni fabrics and Penelope Oggi leathers. The owner’s stateroom is on the main deck, while the lower deck hosts four additional guest staterooms, and there are crew accommodations for seven.

Italian superyacht builder Sanlorenzo has launched its first SD112 motoryacht, a 33.6m (110ft) semi-displacement composite vessel called O. 2 Image(s) The launch ceremony was attended by the yacht's new owner, who came from Central America with his family and friends to celebrate the event. After two years in the planning, six SD112s have already been sold, even before the official launch and the next three hulls are said to be in an advanced stage of production.

The SD112 was built to enhance the Sanlorenzo semi-displacement fibreglass line (named SD) with a model that positions itself between the existing SD92 (28m) and the SD122 (38m).

Though maintaining the unmistakeable features of the SD range, such as the curved doors on the sides and the lateral window shape, the SD112 has foldable terraces in the salon area that open out seawards. Also new is a door that connects a large cockpit to the salon. When completely opened, this creates one unique living area between outdoors and indoors.

O’s superstructure has three decks, but thanks to a series of design innovations it has the slim line appearance of a two-deck yacht. The main deck has an owner’s cabin that dominates the bow area, while the lower deck can host another four guest cabins and the crew quarter with seven beds.

Sanlorenzo builds fibreglass motoryachts, navettas in composite material with semi-displacement hulls, and superyachts in aluminium and steel. According to Showboats International’s 2014 Global Order Book, the company is the world’s second- largest builder of yachts over 24m (79ft) in length.

If you hear someone exclaim “Oh!” upon seeing a Sanlorenzo, he or she might actually be referring to the motoryacht O. O is the first Sanlorenzo SD112 megayacht.

The Sanlorenzo SD112 is among a few SD (semidisplacement) models, which include the smaller SD92 and larger SD122. Like them, the motoryacht O is all-fiberglass. Overall, 30 SD megayachts have been launched, and O is the first of six Sanlorenzo SD112 orders to date.

The owner of the motoryacht O, from Central America, was accompanied by family and friends for the christening and launch in Italy. He requested his Sanlorenzo SD112 have four staterooms for guests, all on the lower deck as expected. Seven crewmembers will attend to everyone’s needs.

The guest areas, including the main-deck owner’s suite, feature leathers, fabrics, and more from Italian brands. Two particularly notable decor features aboard O are on the main aft deck and in the saloon. The alfresco overhang is adorned with Tanganyika wood, walnut, and teak. In the saloon, the double doors of a full-height cabinet were made to look like art. They’re covered with resin and metal, done by an Italian artist.

The Sanlorenzo SD112 was meant to bring the outdoors inside, too. To that end, O has fold-down balconies off the saloon. The megayacht further allows the aft-deck door to remain fully open. The trideck yacht also has large windows along the main and upper decks.

Of course, Sanlorenzo hasn’t forfeited alfresco space. The sundeck aboard O has the usual hot tub surrounded by sunpads. Dining can take place up here, too.

Sea trials for this first Sanlorenzo SD112 will take place in the coming weeks. The builder anticipates a top end of 17 knots and best cruise of 11 knots. Power comes from twin MTUs. At 11 knots, the yacht should see a 2,750-nautical-mile range as well.

Sanlorenzo launches SD112 superyacht "O"

Sanlorenzo has just launched 33.6 metre semi-displacement motoryacht, “O”, and are already experiencing huge success with the first SD112 unit. Six units have been purchased before the official launch of O, with a further three hulls in an advanced stage of production.

Sanlorenzo launches "O" , the first SD112 vessel 28 April 2014

Two years after the first plans for this new line of motoryacht were began, Sanlorenzo has just launched "O", the first SD112 unit - a 33.6-meter semi-displacement motoryacht in composite material, made to measure according to the tastes and the style of her owner, like every Sanlorenzo since 1958.

After the recent launch of the astounding SL118 - 37-meter planning hull presented at Rapallo during the Sanlorenzo Elite Days - the SD112 made her first sea debut.

The launch ceremony was attended by her owner who came from the Central America with his family and friends to celebrate the important event along with everyone from Sanlorenzo that contributed in her construction.

The SD112 (33.6 meters) was built to enhance the historic Sanlorenzo semi-displacement fiberglass line (named SD) with a model that position itself neaetly between the two existing models SD92 (28 meters) and SD122 (38 meters), so as to complete the SD range and to offer a product that provides the best aspects of both. The experience gained by Sanlorenzo with the more than 30 SD sailing motoryachts, allowed the shipyard to plan the motoryacht's flawless design.

As a testimony to a great balance achieved with the SD112 model in terms of design, volume and performance, as of today six SD112 units have already been sold, even before the official launch of "O" and the next three hulls are in an advanced stage of production.

Over the past two years, three Chinese industrial conglomerates have made substantial investments in the boatbuilding sector, acquiring majority and minority shares in three iconic yacht brands: Sanlorenzo, Sunseeker and Ferretti, ranked as #2, #3 and #5 respectively in the 2014 Global order Book. IBI takes a look at the Chinese companies behind the acquisitions of these top yacht builders, including a glimpse of their ambitions.

Any fan of the mystery genre will know that savvy detectives never like to give credence to coincidence. so is it a coincidence that three of the top five superyacht builders on the 2014 Global order Book are now partly owned and heavily financed by three heavyweight chinese conglomerates?

Not likely. Things don’t usually happen by chance domestic economy while sustaining high growth targets. The main thrust of this outward bound ambition thus far has been the acquisition of assets in the United states and Europe. The opportunity to take advantage of Europe’s financial woes by picking up assets at bargain prices has been an added lure, allowing Chinese firms to acquire top brands as a quick route to global success.

China: The great investor

Industry feedback on the new Chinese investors in the industry has been mixed. Some lament the loss of home grown iconic brands to china while others have expressed worries about the erosion of domestic jobs, technical know-how and perhaps quality. thus far, executives of Ferretti, Sunseeker and Sanlorenzo have expressed nothing but enthusiasm about their Chinese partners. The three companies seem thrilled with their new partners, the extensive funding they bring for development and more intimate access to china’s growing market – as well as a free hand at running the business.

At the same time, these European builders have been emphatic in stating that their businesses will retain their production heritage and technology base in Italy and the UK. Despite these protestations, the Chinese companies behind these builders are heavy weight conglomerates with deep pockets as well as lofty ambitions. They will be the ones pulling the financial levers and thus determining the longer term fate of these builders.
