The Armenian liberation torch sanctified by Hayk Nahapet (Patriarch) passed over from Hayots Dzor1 to Avarayr, Zeytun, Sasun, Sardarapat and has reached Artsakh. The heroes sacrificing their lives for the liberation of the Fatherland are immortalized. Hayk Lake Van 1 Մովսէս Խորենացի, Պատմութիւն Հայոց, Երևան, 1991, էջ 32-37: The year 2008 marked the 4500th anniversary of the victory of the Armenian Patriarch Hayk against Bel at the battle of Hayots Dzor (on the shore of Lake Van). Thе calendar calculation of the date based on the periodicity of “Hayk’s Cycle” of the “Ancient Armenian era” was done by the famous Armenologist Ghevond Alishan (1820-1901) (Ալիշան Ղ., Յուշիկք հայրենեաց Հայոց, հ. Ա, Վենետիկ, 1920, էջ 85). There was no leap-year in the ancient Armenian era, since a year was always considered to consist of 365 days; hence the year and the date were movable. Thus 1460 years, according to the Julian calendar, amount to 1461 years, according to the Armenian Calendar. By such periodicity of the “Cycle of Hayk”, 2492 BC denotes the year of Hayk’s victory. The beginning of the victorious year was Navasard 1 (=August 11). New discoveries connected with the observations of the starry sky (the 6th millennium BC - Zorats kar (Karahunj), the first half of the 3rd millennium BC - Metsamor), archaeological excavations and petroglyphs in the Armenian Highland, bear witness to the deep Haykian roots, and that the glorious victory of Hayk symbolized the beginning of a very important new epoch of the Armenian history.

    NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER Ethnic Media Services, founded in 2018 to sustain and build on the work of New America Media, is pleased to publish our Directory of California Ethnic Media, which lists almost 300 news outlets — print, broadcast, digital — across the state. We are grateful for the support of key partners including California Black Media, ImpreMedia, Hoopa Radio, and the Center for Community & Ethnic Media, in compiling this list. The Directory aims to expand access to the sector at a time when communicating with California’s diverse communities has become more urgent than ever amidst the rollout of the 2020 census, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the economic turmoil it has generated. This Directory is a work-in-progress — in today’s highly fluid media landscape, we will update the online information monthly. Thanks to support from the Complete Count Committee Office 2020 Census and several national funders, we were able to expand our research and discover ethnic media platforms we never knew existed: podcasts, radio stations, weeklies, online news sites serving newly settled immigrants and long-siloed ethnic groups. The takeaway from our daily interactions with the sector is that despite the collapse of the business model that has decimated all media, the ethnic news outlets are determined to survive to inform and advocate for their audiences. Some of those outlets have been in opera- tion for decades while others are much newer. Their resilience is inspiring. Their role in creating an inclusive communications infrastruc- ture for this state is indispensable. We look forward to replicating the California Directory with a national listing of our ethnic media partners later this year.

    The Scramble Round 4 ­ Finals 1. One of these artifacts with arms is known as a tevavor, while Momik, credited with the design of Noravank Monastery, designed many of these. The most extensive collection of these artifacts is at Noratus, while the biggest one in the world is located in Jugha, in modern­day Azerbaijan. Listed in 2000 under UNESCO, these objects often have rosettes and botanical motifs, in addition to crosses.     Armenia, Caucaso e Asia Centrale Ricerche 2020 a cura di Carlo Frappi e Paolo Sorbello Armenian Clergy and Conflict Management in Lebanon, 1920-1994 Francesco Mazzucotelli Università di Pavia, Italia Abstract This essay discusses the role played by Church institutions and leaders in the history of the Armenians of Lebanon after their settlement in the country. The de- velopment of Armenian institutions in Lebanon is marked since the period of the French Mandate by the pervasive role played by political parties based on mass mobilisation. Through alliances and expediency, these parties managed to carve out their own quotas in Lebanon’s peculiar power-sharing system. However, Armenians in Lebanon remained highly vulnerable to domestic volatility and regional tensions. Church deliberative or- gans became a site of conflict among opposed political agendas related to the definition of Armenian and Lebanese national identities, Lebanon’s foreign policy, and the rela- tion between the Soviet Union and the Armenian diaspora in the Middle East.
