All have an influence either for weal or woe, good or evil. A certain writer, in order to illustrate the potency or power of influence as it had been manifested in the lives of those of whom he was writing, said that “Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by and by it, he being dead, yet speaketh.” When Paul spake those words, he of whom they were spoken had been dead nearly four thousand years, and yet Paul says he speaketh. So may we not say of all who have lived and died, so may we say of our comrades who have departed this life---whose bodies have, and are moldering back to dust---though dead, they still speak to us---speak to us as manifested in their love, patriotism and devotion to their country. Their influence is still extant in the world, and is being evidenced to-day by our people in the sacrifices we are making for the preservation and perpetuation of the principles for which they fought and bled and died. Though dead, they still live and speak to us in affection, comradeship and love. Their names are written upon the roll of honor and upon the tablets of our hearts, never to be effaced while memory lasts. Journal of the 37th Annual Encampment MEMORIAL ROLL, 1917. NAME. Post.
