Special Collection Sept., 24/25: St. Philip Neri Memorial Donation The Oratory of Saint Philip Neri was founded in New York Archdiocese in 2007. We are a young Oratory among others in the world, considering that there are Oratories which are in existence for hundreds of years. Yet we have grown from four priests at the beginning in 2007 to eleven priests now. At the beginning we served only one parish community in Rockland County. Now we serve four parish communities and we offer our priestly helping hands to religious women communities in our area; we help with Masses in at least five more parishes, and we say Masses for Catholic stu- dents in our area's colleges and high schools. All this is a considerable development for a young Oratorian community of priests. At this time, however, there is something we have to deal with, with a great sense of responsibility and we want to share our concerns with you. It is the future retirement of our still young Oratorian priests. In our case, we cannot rely on any future outside help. Therefore it is our sacred duty to provide for a dignified and well-deserved retire- ment and health care for our priests when they reach their old age. And you know from the experience of your own families that there is not too much time to waste, but start early to make necessary provisions. So we turn to you, our parishioners whom we serve, so that our gift of love and service to you may be reciprocat- ed by your support and generosity in this matter. You have received an envelope for a special Memorial Collection for your Oratorian Fathers this weekend. Please use it to give us a financial support, in measure as your heart and your means will allow you to do, helping us to lay foundation of a "Retirement Fund" for the New York Oratorian Fathers. Let it be a loving gift at the conclusion of our celebrations of 500th years anniversary of the birth of our Father and Founder Saint Philip Neri. The Lord will unfailingly reward you thousand fold for you love and generosity. And we thank you from our hearts! Fr. George and all of the Oratorian Fathers
