In this work, we compiled a catalog of landslides from 1996 to 2017 based on existing records, yearbooks, archives, and fieldwork in Shaanxi Province, China. The statistical analyses demonstrated that the cumulative frequency distribution of the annual landslide number was empirically described by a power-law regression. Most landslides occurred from July to October. The relationship between landslide time interval and their cumulative frequency could be fitted using an exponential regression. -

In order to monitor the change of vegetation in Han River and evaluate the effect of ecological projects, it is needed to reveal the spatial-temporal change of the vegetation in the upper reach of Han River quantitatively. The study is based on MODIS/Terra NDVI remote sensing data, and analyzes the spatial-temporal changes of the NDVI in August from 2000 to 2016 at pixel scale in the upper reach of Han River Basin. -

Current Status of and Prospects for China's Power Grid 1.1 The current status of the China's power grid China's power industry has entered into the era of large power networks, and power transmission technologies have also upgraded greatly with the recent rapid development and construction of these power networks. At present, there are seven inter-provincial power grids (East China, Northeast, Central China, North China, Northwest, Sichuan-Chongqing and South China—which covers Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Hainan and Guangdong) and four independent provincial power networks (Shandong, Fujian, Xinjiang and Xizang (Tibet) operating in mainland China. Large power grids now serve all cities and most villages throughout China[1], as can be seen in Figure 1. By the end of 2001, the total generating capacity in China was 338 GW (gigawatts), of which hydroelectric capacity (totaling 83 GW) accounted for 24.5%, thermal power (253 GW) accounted for 74.9%, and nuclear and other types of generation (at 2 GW or so) accounted for 0.6%. This division of capacity is shown in Figure 2. The total electricity generated in 2001 was 1,483,856 GWh (gigawatt-hours), of which thermal power supplied 1,204,478 GWh, accounting for 81.2% of total generation. -

SICHUAN EARTHQUAKE ONE YEAR REPORT May 2009 unite for children SICHUAN EARTHQUAKE ONE YEAR REPORT May 2009 1 SICHUAN EARTHQUAKE ONE YEAR REPORT May 2009 FOREWORD Minutes after picking up seismological reports of a major tremor in the vicinity of Chengdu, UNICEF China and the global UNICEF Operations Centre in New York began to gather information on the situation of children. Those activities laid the foundation for what has since become a full-fledged emergency response to the 12 May 2008 Sichuan earthquake. The huge scale of the devastation along a swath of territory running from central Sichuan to southern Gansu quickly prompted a major government mobilization. The Government of China worked around the clock to organize and undertake a massive rescue and relief operation to save lives and address the needs of earthquake survivors. The government’s TABLE OF CONTENTS response was impressive in its speed, scope of mobilization, and resource inputs. The scale of damage riveted attention as media reports and citizen 1 Foreword blogs carried the story to a stunned world. It quickly became clear that the public response to this disaster would be on a scale quite different 3 Introduction from previous major disasters in China. Immediately, a national wave of concern and support materialized, and it was not unusual to see cars and 5 Maps buses filled with food, water and volunteers making their way to Sichuan to offer whatever help they could. Its geographical feature is "strategically located and difficult to access in four stoppages". Hanshui River’s origin is through-flowed and has a long history. In the poets’ pens of the Tang Dynasty, its traffic was very convenient, the history and culture were profound, the natural environment was beautiful, and the cultural atmosphere was strong. This paper aims to explore the new findings, new ways to realize the spread of modern Hanzhong City image through the study of Hanzhong's written poetry in the Tang Dynasty in combination with the transformation of Hanzhong's City, and explore the importance of urban communication, endow Hanzhong, a historic and cultural city with a special and innovative connotation in visual form, and provide a feasible proposal and plan. Hanzhong crosses the north and south, and has two water systems of Hanshui and Jialing River. It is known as the “Jiangnan in the Northwest”. Thanks to the city’s profound historical and cultural heritage and outstanding humanities, Tang Dynasty’s countless poets stopped to enjoy them, some sang, some contemplated, some exclaimed, some were curious, some evoked memories of the past while living in the present, some indulged without scruples, all of these injected the romantic and fanatical blood of the Tang Dynasty into Hanzhong City, providing more colorful content for the spread of contemporary Hanzhong City. -
