As a Commission, we were faced with exciting but challenging tasks. Firstly, to define what citizenship means to young people. Secondly to increase young people’s participation in politics and promote active citizenship, reflecting the communication preferences of young people. Thirdly, to lead a consultation on whether the voting age should be lowered to 16. -

She served as MP for Lewisham East from 1992 until 2010. She grew up in the east end of Glasgow – a poor part of the city – with her parents, two older brothers, younger sister and extended family nearby. She describes her childhood as a mix of good and bad times. She recalls realising at a young age that some of her friends were even less well off than her family. “My parents instilled in us a sense of what was right and wrong. This page is intentionally left blank Agenda Item 4 Councillors Morrison and Anwar along with the Scrutiny Manager attended the Lewisham Youth Independent Advisory Group at Lewisham Police Station on Thursday 24th January 2019. The group started a year ago and was designed to be a safe space for young people and a chance to chat to local Police and share concerns and ideas. The Police were working with schools. This was happening more now compared to the past but there was always room for improvement. There were 11 young women at the meeting and all felt that they didn’t mind the idea of stop and search and it could make people feel safer but it was important it was done “fairly and politely”. The young people reported that it could be a humiliating interaction and there should be more emphasis on respect and politeness. -

When an image on the film is obliterated with a large round black mark, it is an indication that the photographer suspected that the copy may have moved during exposure and thus cause a blurred image. You will find a good image of the page in the adjacent frame. 3. When a map, drawing or chart, etc., was part of the material being photographed the photographer followed a definite method in "sectioning" the material. It is customary to begin photoing at the upper left hand corner of a large sheet and to continue photoing from left to right in equal sections with a small overlap. If necessary, sectioning is continued again — beginning below the first row and continuing on until complete. 4. The majority of users indicate that the textual content is of greatest value, however, a somewhat higher quality reproduction could be made from "photographs" if essential to the understanding of the dissertation. -

I have attended as many of the review stakeholder meetings as I possibly could, including when the panel was present. 2. I would like to congratulate all those involved in what was an extremely well run review. 3. The appointment of the Chair, Sir Graeme Catto, a leading clinician, Professor of Medicine at the University of Aberdeen and currently the President of the General Medical Council was welcomed by all political parties not least because of his significant experience as a senior NHS consultant. 4. The review remit was access to acute (hospital) and non-acute (community) health services, in this area. 5. The final report now clearly represents a strong and collective professional view on how we should be delivering healthcare in Crawley and the surrounding area. 6. It certainly listened to local opinion on all aspects of healthcare. The question is, did the review process listen and respond? 7. We all want to see a new hospital in Crawley and I continue to press that case in the longer term as our population expands, but there are huge improvements in this report which we also want to see now. 8. Poor primary care services made us reliant on one hospital for all our needs. Things are so much different now. If you ask senior doctors, nurses and therapists what they want to see and how they believe services need to be organised then surely you ,must listen to what they say? 9. The organisation of health services has changed dramatically over the years in response to improved and increasingly complex treatments. -

Localism in London The implications for planning and regeneration in the Capital Anna Turley and Joanna Wilson March 2012 With the support of Portland Communications Research Overview This report is part of a research programme that Future of London is undertaking into the implications of the government’s localism agenda for the Capital. This research has a particular focus on regeneration, planning and service delivery. In the course of this research, we have undertaken a number of interviews with high level practitioners within London Boroughs and the Greater London Authority. The programme consists of three research seminars, each featuring over 25 participants from local authority planning and regeneration departments. We have also conducted a survey of around 50 senior local authority planning and regeneration officers. Defining the Localism Agenda Throughout this report we refer to the ‘localism agenda’. This refers to a broad range of initiatives and reforms by Government. In many senses, the Localism Act, which became legislation in November 2011, is at the centre of this broader agenda, but the measures contained within it do not represent the full programme of reform that the Government has embarked upon. For the purposes of this report, the localism agenda is taken to mean those reforms contained within the Localism Act, the draft National Planning Policy Framework and the emerging Local Government Finance Bill, which was at House of Commons Report stage at time of writing. It also includes specific new initiatives that are not included in the Act, such as Local Enterprise Partnerships and Enterprise Zones.
