The four strategic project objectives are to: I. Improve schools’ ability to reduce SBV through creation of safe learning environments. II. Strengthen local networks that increase school safety. III. Increase the capacity of the Ministry of Education (MOE) and social protection actors to prevent, respond to, report on and monitor SBV. IV. Lower risk factors and enhance protective factors for students that qualify for secondary prevention services (SPS). The project is implemented by DAI Global, LLC (DAI) with support from Partners of the Americas, under a period of performance from February 23, 2017 to February 22, 2022. It strengthens education systems to address SBV in schools, working to enhance the capacity of Government of Honduras (GOH) institutions such as the Ministry of Education (MOE), the Ministry of Security, and other key social network actors at the national and municipal level, and among local civil society organizations (CSOs). Using an education system strengthening approach, Asegurando responds to USAID’s Education Strategy Goal #3 of increased equitable access to education in crisis and conflict environments. It does this by working in targeted schools over the life of the of the project, including centros básicos (grades 1 – 9) and institutos (grades 7 – 9) across five target municipalities
