Green River The Ultimate CCR/John Fogerty Tribute Show A LITTLE BACKGROUND Green River - The #1 Nationally Touring Creedence Clearwater Revival/John Fogerty Tribute Show is the brain child of native New Yorker Rick Horvath. Noodles as he is affectionately know, was born to perform this music. He started singing CCR songs in his very first band when he was only 13 years old. CCR was an American rock band active in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Their musical style encompassed the roots rock and swamp rock genres. Creedence Clearwater Revival's music is still a staple of American radio airplay the band has sold 26 million albums in the United States alone. The show is very faithful to a live CCR performance. Listeners enjoy a full 90 minute show of their favorite CCR classics (Bad Moon Rising, Proud Mary, Up Around the Bend to name a few) and songs that Creedence would turn into live jams such as Born on the Bayou and Susie Q. The band also mixes in John Fogerty classics including The Old Man Down the Road and Centerfield capturing the energy of his current show. Rick Horvath: Guitar/Lead Vocals Rick "Noodles" Horvath has been a familiar staple on the East Coast music scene for decades. A founding member of NY's Sorethumb - one of Long Island's most successful working bands for over 20 years, he has also worked with many top studio producers & engineers: Mick Jones of Foreigner, Gary Lyons (Greatful Dead) and Steve Rinkoff (Meatloaf) to name a few. He acts as musical director for Rick Virga & All The King's Men, NY's #1 Elvis Tribute show which performed on Broadway. Noodles shared the stage with Jimmy Buffett in an unannounced show at Margarittaville in Key West, FL. He has opened for such acts as The Romantics, Glenn Tilbrook (Squeeze) and Colin Hay (Men at Work). .

The entire Gainesville music scene was built around songs: Top Forty songs on the radio, songs on albums, original songs performed on stage by bands and other musical ensembles. The late sixties was a golden age of rock and pop music and the rise of the rock band as a musical entity. As the counterculture marched for equal rights and against the war in Vietnam, a sonic revolution was occurring in the recording studio and on the concert stage. New sounds were being created through multitrack recording techniques, and record producers such as Phil Spector and George Martin became integral parts of the creative process. Musicians expanded their sonic palette by experimenting with the sounds of sitar, and through sound-modifying electronic ef- fects such as the wah-wah pedal, fuzz tone, and the Echoplex tape-de- lay unit, as well as a variety of new electronic keyboard instruments and synthesizers. The sound of every musical instrument contributed toward the overall sound of a performance or recording, and bands were begin- ning to expand beyond the core of drums, bass, and a couple guitars.

For an octogenarian, it had never been healthier. A study commissioned by John Wiley of Columbia Records said that the business had grown 250 percent in the decade between 1955 and 1965. It predicted the record business would double in size again within the next decade. “The end of the upward trend is not yet in sight,” added Wiley. “Our future has never held more promise” (Rood 1965). With the passing of rock and roll into just rock, the day of the mu- sic business robber barons had begun to fade. The previous decade saw musicians with massive hit records living in poverty, contracted to virtual slavery as recording artists. As Etta James once said, “I…started my show business life living in a private hotel where you could cook. Other entertainers were there, like Curtis Mayfield. Ev- erybody lived in this one hotel. I was the one who had the kitchen. We used to put all our money together to eat. At that time, we would get two cents, three cents, five cents for bottles and at the end of the day we would get our money together and we’d get some food and cook it.

May 21, 1997--- LOS ANGELES---The clouds of mystery are lifting over the mountainside studio where John Fogerty is rehearsing for his first extended live shows in more than a decade. Wearing a green plaid workshirt and pressed blue jeans, the creative force behind Creedence Clearwater Revival is preparing to hit the road to promote his new "Blue Moon Swamp" record, released Tuesday on Warner Bros. But the majority of the dates in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago will consist of Creedence hits. Fronting a quartet, Fogerty will even play some of the classics through vintage '60s gear. Fogerty has never leaned on Creedence songs as a solo act. Coming to terms with the past may account for the clarity of "Blue Moon Swamp." Full of dobros, guitars and passionate vocals, it is Fogerty's most rootsy album since his self-titled 1975 solo debut. Then again, maybe the clarity was already in place. "It came first," Fogerty says before rehearsal. "I get a lot of the clarity from my wife, Julie (Kramer, who hails from Elkhart, Ind.). Her positiveness helps me every day. That spilled over into my directness with the music, and I became very clear with who I should be. And that's a good thing to know, because there's been times in my life where I wasn't that sure. This engaging and very challenging interval profile is a fun game that requires student input to help decide the next interval. It will take a little organization on your part. You’ll need to create index cards for each song and let your students pick the card from a bag as if they are trick-or-treating (make sure to borrow a Halloween bag from your kids)! The card they pick will be your next “trick” and the “treats” will be the recoveries in between. You’ll have to line up your songs carefully in your iPod so they are easy to scroll to. I’ve included a screenshot of my playlist in iTunes so you can see how I lined mine up. The total is 65 minutes. You can drop Bad Moon Rising and end a little earlier if you must end at an hour. Or, if you only have 45 minutes, choose 5 of your favorite “tricks” from the list, and shorten the profile. There are two warm-up songs and 7 drills that make up the tricks ranging from 3- 1/2 to 5-1/2 minutes. They are either consistent efforts for the full time (most at threshold) or they consist of shorter high-intensity surges with short recoveries.
