Job title Player Registrations Manager Reports to: Head of Compliance Salary Competitive (Depending on Experience) (plus performance related bonus & benefits package) Hours of Work 35 hours per week. Monday – Friday Contractual Status Permanent – subject to 6 months probationary period BACKGROUND The Football Association of Wales (FAW) is seeking to appoint a ‘Player Registrations Manager’ within the Compliance Department. The FAW is the governing body of football in Wales and is responsible for promoting and developing the game at all levels from grass roots through to the professional game, including the Welsh Premier League and all International squads. ROLE PURPOSE The ‘Player Registrations Manager’ sits within the Compliance Department of the FAW and reports directly to the Head of Compliance. The post holder is responsible for the operation of all processes, procedures and initiatives related to player registrations, as well as the FAW’s central player registrations database. The successful candidate will actively assist in the development and delivery of the FAW’s new ‘Football Management System’ project. The post will also incorporate working on the FIFA TMS database and the successful candidate will be responsible for all International Transfer matters at amateur and professional level. RESPONSIBILITIES • Primary contact for all player registration matters; providing advice, support and guidance where necessary. • To liaise with all adult, youth and junior leagues and the six Area Associations, as well as FIFA, UEFA, The Football Association and other relevant football governing bodies. • To manage the operation of the FAW’s central player registrations database, including the main point of contact for all external users. • To manage the ‘My Club’ database in conjunction with the FAW’s ICT Manager. • To manage the FIFA TMS database and FIFA TMS Minors section for the FAW. • When requested, to represent the FAW at Disciplinary Hearings involving Player Registration matters. • To identify, devise and deliver relevant education and training presentations to leagues, Area Associations and clubs throughout Wales. • To be the FAW’s primary contact for Work Permit applications, including acting as Secretary in any appeals. • To be the primary contact for Intermediary (Agent) applications. • To review and update (on an annual basis) the FAW’s Rules and Regulations relating to Player Registrations and to ensure they remain compatible with the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players. • To maintain and update the Player Registrations page(s) on the FAW website. • To line-manage the ‘Player Registrations Team’. • To undertake any other duties as instructed by the Head of Compliance. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES • Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience. • Knowledge of the FAW’s Rules and Regulations. • Knowledge of FIFA’s Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players. • Experience in policy and procedure development. • Experience of Microsoft applications, for example Word, Excel and Outlook are essential. • Experience of data entry and databases. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • The ability to deliver presentations. • Must be self-motivated. • Demonstrate flexibility. • Show willingness to learn. • Demonstrate attention to detail. • Excellent organisational skills. • The ability to deal with difficult matters professionally and in confidence. • Experience of managing others. • The ability to work as part of a team but also without supervision. • The ability to work outside of normal working hours. • Knowledge of domestic football in Wales (advantageous). • Knowledge of football throughout the UK and Europe (advantageous). • The ability to speak Welsh (advantageous). The position is full time and based at the FAW Offices in Cardiff. The post holder will be required at times to perform their duties or additional work or attend training outside of normal office hours and/or in different locations, either domestically or internationally, at the discretion of the Head of Compliance.
