Mold Alexandra FC Sponsored by CYGNET V Rhydymwyn FC Tuesday 17th August 2021 Firstly I’d like to take this opportunity on behalf of my management team and players to say a big thank you to all the committee members who over the last 18 months have kept the club ticking over without the reward of football Tonight’s game is one the players, supporters and neutrals can look forward to with excitement, our closest local derby and one which myself and the players are looking forward to. As a group we were extremely disappointed with our performance away at Buckley at the weekend. Yes we worked hard but we expect that every week however we feel we did not play football the way we can, we are eager to put that right tonight Finally just a quick mention and thanks to our ever growing group of supporters who turn up rain or shine. From my point of view it’s brilliant to see the attendance figures increase and familiar faces returning, long may it continue. IT REALLY DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE WELCOME Hello and welcome to Alyn Park for this evenings Ardal Northwest Legue game between Mold Alex FC and Rhydymwym FC. Our last two weekends saw the Alex progress in the Trophy with a 6-0 victory against Greenfield with a Hattrick for Connor Kendrick and one each for Henry Carver, Rhyss Nash and Steve Watkins. Then in the FAW Welsh Cup we were drawn against Buckley Town leaders of the JD Cymru North and although being untroubled for much of the game against our higher division opponents unfortunately lost 2-1 with the Mold goal scored by Danny Warren after an assist by Henry Carver UPCOMING FIXTURES 21st August Home FC Quuens Park Welsh Trophy 3rd round 2pm KO 24th August away Llay Welfare Ardal Northwest League 18.30pm KO 28th August Home Llanuwchllyn FC Ardal Northwest League 2.30pm KO 31st August Home Greenfield NEWFA 7.30pm KO Enjoy todays match and thank you for your support. In 1929 a new junior club was formed, the club would be known as Mold Alexandra and their ground would be Alyn Park. The 1980s saw the club’s most successful decade, winning major trophies on a regular basis. Successes during the decade were enough for them to be in- vited firstly into the newly formed Cymru Alliance (CAL) in 1990and then, in 1992 , the newly formed League of Wales Following three successful seasons back in the WNL, which saw them in both 2001 and 2002, win the Premier Division Cup the Alex won the championship of the Premier Division in the 2001-02 season, and were promoted back to the CAL. The Alex was relegated back to the Welsh National Premier League in 2009/10. .Playing back in the WNL Premier, and with a change in management The Alex finished mid table. 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons saw the introduction of reserves and Junior teams, and the first team improved to finish in 5th and then 2nd places. The 2013/14 season saw the appointment of a new first team manager, Sean Rogers, and assistant Russ Higgins, the club also added a Colts team. The 2013/14 campaign was very successful with the 1st team be- ing crowned WNL Premier division champions and gaining promotion to the Huws Gray Cymru Alliance League (CAL), the Reserves secured 4th spot in the league and were runners up in the league cup, and the cots capped a great first season, finishing 4th in the Reserve and Colts division of the WNL. The 2014/15 season saw further success witht the Presidents Cup and NEWFA Cup added to the trophy cabinet and the Colts went on to win their league We are proud to announce our function room with fully licensed bar is now open for business. In the 1985–86 season, it reverted to a single game, to be decided by extra time and penalties as necessary Shrewsbury Town hold the record for the most times an English team has won the Cup, a record that will remain unbroken owing to the fact that English teams have not been allowed to compete in the cup since 1995. The last English winner of the Welsh Cup was Hereford United in 1990.The Football Association of Wales is the organising body of this competition, which has been run (except during the two World Wars) every year since its inception in 1877–78. In the early years of organised football in Wales, football was very much the sport of North Wales rather than the rugby union playing south – the FAW was founded in Ruabon, near Wrexham in 1876, and Wrexham remained the site of the FAW's head office until 1986; it was not until 1912 that a southern team, Cardiff City, won the Welsh Cup for the firsttime. The winning team qualifies to play in the following season's UEFA Europa League (previously teams qualified for the Euro- pean Cup Winners' Cup, which was discontinued in 1999). Until 1995, Welsh clubs playing in the Welsh or English leagues were invited to play in the Welsh Cup. On occasion some English clubs, mostly those from border areas such as Shrewsbury, Hereford and Chester, were also invited to participate. However, in the event of an English club winning the Welsh Cup, they were not allowed to progress to the European Cup Winners' Cup. Instead, the best placed Welsh club in the Welsh Cup competition would take the European place. From 1996 to 2011, only clubs playing in the Welsh football league system were allowed to enter the Welsh Cup. This rule excluded the six Welsh clubs who played in the English football league system: Cardiff City, Colwyn Bay, Merthyr Tydfil Town, Newport County, Swansea City and Wrexham. On 20 April 2011, the Football Association of Wales invited these six clubs to rejoin the Welsh Cup for the 2011–12 season, but only Merthyr Town, Newport County and Wrexham accepted.[2] In March 2012, UEFA stated that Welsh clubs playing in the English football league sys- tem could not qualify for European competitions via the Welsh Cup but they could qualify via the English league and cup competitions hence they were subsequently again excluded from the Welsh Cup. FA Wales Integrity At the commencement of the 2013/2014 season, the FAW underwent a thorough, independent risk assessment which was carried out by integrity experts. The findings showed that domestic football in Wales was at significant risk of being targeted by match-fixers and other related criminal organisations.
