Good afternoon everybody and welcome to today's fixture with Taffs Well to whose players, officials and supporters we extend warm greetings .Our visitors ended runners- up last season and by the looks of things are geared up to go one better this time round. A point behind current leaders Barry Town but with two games in hand they must be regarded as early favourites for the championship though there is a long, long way to go. Without doubt it looks the most open for years with no team even close to a decisive breakaway and early leaders Cambrian and AFC Porth both stuttering in recent games. We have enjoyed an excellent run with three successive wins the most notable being the two league wins both against Gwent opponents in Caerleon and Cwmbran Celtic. I wrote in the Cwmbran programme that we had our shooting boots on and this was again in evidence on the day going nap with five superbly taken goals and though I may be guilty of hyperbole, several contenders for a goal of the season competition. It would be great if we could continue the spree and consolidate a position in the top six prior to a run of cup games. On the facilities side you will have seen the southern end extension which provides a new exit and entrance for the players and frees up the vestibule for further develop- ment. You will also have noticed the new galvanized steel barriers installed around the playing area perimeter. These were obtained from the Ynys Stadium where extensive works are currently underway in the construction of a new super school for the Aber- dare catchment area. Hopefully we can teach a few football lessons to our opponents today. Whatever the outcome history tells us that games between the two teams always attract good marks for quality and am sure that will continue. Enjoy the game Now Available…….. A recent item of correspondence, received from an Associate Member living in Somerset, mildly, but with humour, rebukes the compiler of this Newsletter for giving undue emphasis to events and personalities connected with the Aberdare area. 24th April 2014 “Dear Mr. Evans, I have been an associate member – a ‘drone’, really for several years and the receipt of Hanes really does lift the spirit so I hope you will not find my observations impertinent, BUT I find that Aberdare and its environs (with the occasional foray to Mountain Ash), is given undue prominence and whilst I can sense the reason for this it does leave virtually two-thirds of the valley below the salt on the editorial table. Anyway, to temper this mild criticism I enclose a poem I’ve written about the valley in the hope that it might cause some latent poets in the Society to put pen to paper, (poetry or prose), about what the valley means to them. Perhaps a slice of Hanes could be devoted to these reflections — present and from the past? I hope that the poem and the suggestions prove that I am not completely idle.

  • CANDIDATE SITE REGISTER Index of Sites
Foreword The Rhondda Cynon Taf Local Development Plan (LDP) provides for a new way of planning for the future of the County Borough. This follows major changes to the planning system which were introduced by the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. It sees the replacement of the old system of structure and local plans which, until the LDP is adopted, forms the Development Plan for the County Borough. As the Plan will identify land for new development during the CANDIDATE SITE period 2006 – 2021, it will be important that sites allocated for housing, employment, and other uses are capable of coming forward within this timescale and that they can contribute fully REGISTER to sustainability objectives whilst meeting overall growth requirements. Previous undeveloped local plan allocations, along with sites Index of Sites put forward by development interests (Candidate Sites) need to be considered carefully. A Methodology for consistently and objectively assessing these sites was subject to consultation in the summer of 2006. This Candidate Site Register brings together the approved methodology together with a full list of strategic and non- strategic sites to be considered, with maps showing their location and extent. Through the publication and availability of this information further transparency will be added to the process. Gaps in the number sequence for the Candidate Sites result from the omission of small sites of 0.3 hectare or less. These will be considered as part of the review of settlement boundaries.
