Her food journey covered a vegan takeover at E-Box, porky café Pigsty and Wild Beer (all at Cargo in Wapping Wharf), St Nicholas Market and Shop 3 Bistro in Clifton. Headline: Bristol’s new events spaces Date: 16 May 2018 Based on a press release issued in April, this Mice industry newsletter ran a whole page on Bristol’s new event spaces at Being Brunel and the Engineers House, as well as up-and-coming plans for new facilities at Bristol Old Vic and Future Inns. Other stories House Beautiful picked up a report by Trouva (the online home for indy shopping) on the UK’s 10 most stylish places which included one in Bristol. Clifton Village, says Trouva, ‘has fast become Bristol’s leafy, stylish suburb, filled with delicious foodie fare and independent shops’. Brazilian website, discasdeviagem.com lists its top 18 things to do in Bristol including lots of interactive features like YouTube videos and Google Maps. There’s been lots of national coverage about Casamia’s accolade as ‘best regional restaurant in the UK’ (according to Square Meal) including a piece in the Telegraph. Bristol Aquarium gets a name check in Wales Online’s round-up days out within an hour of Cardiff. Press trips and enquiries (where coverage is forthcoming) Mega busy month with several individual and group press visits in May 2018. Jodie Molyneux from Aberdeen’s Evening Express spend a May weekend in the city courtesy of The Bristol hotel (DB provided her with a media pass). In association with Ireland West Airport, Destination Bristol hosted a small group of print journalists on a two-day trip from the Republic of Ireland: Darragh Kelly (Roscommon Herald), Declan Varley (Galway Independent) and Robert Cullen (Sligo Weekender). From Spain, vlogger-blogger and Huffington Post writer, Ruben Alonso spent three days in Bristol shooting a city-guide video for his you-tube channel Ruben y El Mundo (26,000 subscribers). Neil Sowerby, editor of the Manchester Confidential series, visited Bristol with his small pooch Captain Smidge with plans to cover the city’s food and drink as well as its dog-friendly side. Visit Britain supported a media trip for three Nordic influencers (from Denmark, Norway and Sweden). Press releases May 2018 issue included Bristol: The Simpson are Coming (and Wallace and Gromit too) and Meet Bristol launches new membership category for event suppliers. Networking Destination Bristol’s membership forums both took place on Thursday 17 May this year. The Hospitality Forum in the morning was hosted by Mercure Bristol Brigstow Hotel with a presentation from the Grand Appeal and a talk from Bristol Insight, Open Top Bus Company. The Attractors Forum in the afternoon was hosted by The New Room, John Wesley's Chapel with another presentation from the Grand Appeal and talk from Moritz Mayrhofer, Market Manager at Booking.com. .
