7U Special Rules

Sec. 1-In all 7U Division games, the following shall apply:

7U American League (A) Batter will be allowed 6 pitches from the machine (continue hitting from machine if batter is fouling off pitches), if the 6+ is missed, the batter will be allowed unlimited swings with the ball on a tee until the ball is into fair territory. If no tee available, the coach will assist the batter to hit a machine pitched ball. (B) No base stealing is allowed. Base runners MUST the base until the ball is HIT or the runner is forced to advance. (C) The distance for pitching shall be thirty-five (35) feet and the base distance shall be fifty (50) feet. (D) The fly rule will NOT be observed. (E) During the course of the game, when a ball is put in play, action will continue and batters & base runners can advance for extra bases until the ball is returned to the infield and is touched by an inside the base paths in fair territory. (F) 2 defensive coaches are allowed in fair territory, but to speed up play, it is requested to have a coach behind the catcher to assist in retrieving the baseball. (G) Runners are not allowed to advance to the next base on an over throw. (H) Defense is not allowed to turn a play. Only the first will be recorded. (I) – Teams bat until the defense gets three outs, team at-bat gets 5 runs, or the team at-bat has hit their line-up for that one-time. No player should hit twice in the same inning. Team at-bat counts their own runs and outs.

Sec. 2-The (A) The pitching distance will be measured from the discharge, in front of the wheel. The manager may position the on either side of the machine with one foot on or just outside the chalk circle. (B) One (1) umpire will be used in foul territory behind home plate to the back side of the batter. (C) The coach will drop the ball into the machine. Before dropping the ball into the machine the coach will hold the ball over his/her head, and make eye contact with the batter; (D) A power/mechanical failure will result in a “coach pitch” format for the remainder of the game or until the mechanical malfunction is resolved. (E) If a pitching machine is not throwing properly, the machine will be adjusted IMMEDIATELY. The speed setting will be set at 32 mph for ALL DIVISIONS. The speed and consistency of the machine will be monitored continuously by the umpire. If the machine is not properly adjusted, it will be readjusted immediately by the umpire; (F) Batted balls hitting the pitching machine, generator, or person feeding the machine are considered dead and all play will stop. Extension cord will be in play. The batter will be awarded first base and any base runners will advance if forced. If the ball settles inside the circle or becomes lodged in or under the machine, or is within the power supply, it will be considered “out-of-play” and the batter will be awarded first base and any base runners will advance if forced. (G) The defensive player playing the pitcher's position SHALL NOT be positioned in front of the pitching machine nor inside the chalk circle. The pitcher must be within 5 feet of the chalk circle. (H) 10 defensive players will be used with 4 players in the . The must start on the grass outfield. (I) In the event of playing short-handed, any position may be vacated including the pitcher and catcher position.
