New World Bank Research Finds Opportunities in Decarbonizing Maritime Transport The first report launched Apr. 1th, “The Potential of Zero-Carbon Bunker Fuels in Developing Countries”, identifies ammonia and hydrogen as the most promising zero-carbon fuels for shipping being more scalable and cost-competitive than other or synthetic carbon-based options. The global maritime transport sector produces around three percent of global GHG emissions and an estimated 15 percent of the world’s air pollution annually.

Stadler demonstrates battery-electric train with 185 km range The Flirt Akku, has covered about 15,000 km in pure battery operation, and has demonstrated a range of 185 km, better than the 150 km that the Stadler team was expecting. Emission-free rail vehicles represent “a fundamental building block for achieving the EU’s climate targets,” Stadler said. Only 54 percent of the European rail network is equipped with overhead electrical lines.
