Keith Dewar, President and CEO, Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region

Keith Dewar is the President & Chief Executive Officer of Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region, as of November 1, 2012. Dewar previously served in a number of executive roles in the health care system.

Keith Dewar was appointed in January 2010 as the first CEO of Health PEI, Prince Edward Island’s newly created integrated provincial health system. Keith’s career has included significant senior experience in health, education, and the private sector. Prior to his appointment as CEO he was Prince Edward Island’s Deputy Minister of Health beginning in February 2008, and before that he oversaw the delivery of all health services for one of Canada’s largest and most integrated health authorities as Senior Vice President, Health Services for the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region. He was also appointed the first CEO of the Provincial Health Services Authority in , PE, and served on the senior team at working in finance, knowledge development and international business development. Keith entered the health field in 1991 when he joined the senior management teams of initially Prince County and then East Prince Health, both headquartered in Summerside, PE. Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, he held various positions with one of Canada’s largest accounting firms, KPMG, in Halifax, NS and St. John’s, NL.

Dewar is a graduate of Dallhousie University and has a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master’s in business administration. Dewar also holds the professional designation of Charted Accountant.

Dewar and his wife Audrey have four children. One of their daughters lives in St. Louis, MO, another lives in Montreal, QC, their youngest daughter attends McGill University, and their son attends Dalhousie University. He enjoys gardening and kayaking with his wife and visiting their children as they move around the country. He lives with his wife in Regina.
