Earthquakes, floods, landslides, and land subsidence are among the disasters that affected this region. In recent years, remote sensing techniques have played a key role in determining land subsidence events that produce significant environmental problems in various plain areas around Iran (e.g., Hashtgerd, Qara Bulaq, Damghan, South West Tehran, Golpayegan, South Mahyar, and Gorgan plains). Land subsidence events can be clearly identified by employing remote sensing and geodetic methods such as well-known and frequently used GPS measurements and InSAR studies. Any changes on the ground surface caused by deformation events can be accurately calculated using the InSAR technique. Basically, this method compares pairs of satellite images of a region, which acquired before and after the deformation event, and detects the possible changes between them. Application of the InSAR analysis technique on ENVISAT satellite data acquired between 26.01.2007-11.12.2009 in Gorgan Plain, located in the western part of Golestan Province, has revealed the occurrence of 4.8 cm and 1.1 cm of land subsidence amounts for the Gorgan and Akkale areas, respectively. InSAR analysis results also suggest that land subsidence has been distributed in a relatively east-west direction. -

Email: [email protected] Received 26 July 2008; accepted 14 September 2008 Abstract: The 12-year period from 1967 to 1978 was a period of intense ornithological activity in Iran. The Ornithology Unit in the Department of the Environment carried out numerous surveys throughout the country; several important international ornithological expeditions visited Iran and subsequently published their findings, and a number of resident and visiting bird-watchers kept detailed records of their observations and submitted these to the Ornithology Unit. These activities added greatly to our knowledge of the status and distribution of birds in Iran, and produced many records of birds which had rarely if ever been recorded in Iran before. This paper gives details of all records known to the author of 92 species that were recorded as rarities in Iran during the 12-year period under review. These include 18 species that had not previously been recorded in Iran, a further 67 species that were recorded on fewer than 13 occasions, and seven slightly commoner species for which there were very few records prior to 1967. All records of four distinctive subspecies are also included. The 29 species that were known from Iran prior to 1967 but not recorded during the period under review are listed in an Appendix. This challenge is most serious in tribe Caryophylleae since the supposed genera seem to be highly artificial, and the available morphological evidence cannot effectively be used for delimitation and exact determination of taxa. The main goal of the present study was to re-assess the monophyly of the genera currently recognized in this tribe using molecular phylogenetic data. We used the sequences of nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and the chloroplast gene rps16 for 135 and 94 accessions, respectively, representing all 16 genera currently recognized in the tribe Caryophylleae, with a rich sampling of Gypsophila as one of the most heterogeneous groups in the tribe. -

Because for scorpion treatment a polyvalent antivenom is use in Iran, and some time it failed to treatment, for solve this problem govement decide to produce regional antivenom. Scorpions were captured at day and night time using ruck rolling and Ultra Violet methods during 2019. Then specimens transferred to a 75% alcohol-containing plastic bottle. Finally the specimens under a stereomicroscope using a valid identication key were identied. Distribution maps were introduced using GIS 10.4. Results: A total of 111 scorpion samples were captured from the province, all belonging to the Buthidae family, including Mesobuthus eupeus (97.3%), Orthochirus farzanpayi (0.9%) and Mesobuthus caucasicus (1.8%) species. -

Methods This cross sectional study was carried out in 31 provinces by using the daily number of newly infected cases which was announced by the Iranian health authorities from February 19 to March 22, 2020, we explore the trend of outbreak of coronavirus disease in all provinces of Iran and determine some inuential factors such as population size, area, population density, distance from original epicenter, altitude, and human development index (HDI) for each province on its spread by Spearman correlation coecient. K-means cluster analysis (KMCA) also categorized the provinces into 10 separate groups based on CF and ACF of the infected cases at the end of the study period. (ACF). Results There were 21,638 infected, 7,913 recovered and 2,299 death cases with COVID-19 in Iran during the study period. -

The Biology of the Persian Mountain Salamander, Batrachuperus Persicus (Amphibia, Caudata, Hynobiidae) in Golestan Province, Iran

O. Box 49165, Gorgan, Iran. Abstract. - The Persian Mountain Salamander, Batrachuperus persicus, is a hynobiid endemic to Iran and is distrib- uted in specific localities of Hyrcanian forests in four northern provinces of Iran. The biology of this salamander was studied at four localities in Golestan Province of Iran, especially in Shirabad Cave, between 1996 and 1999. Information is presented about the cave and other localities. This salamander has four fingers and toes. The larval stages of the salamander are found at all times of year and probably don't transform during the first year. The head form of small larvae is wider posteriorly while the head form of large larvae, juveniles and adult specimens is more or less rectangular. Juveniles have more yellow spots than adults. Juvenile and adult specimens are found inside and outside of water in the cave but in other localities they can be found in burrows around springs and are not active dur- ing the day. They feed on larval and adult forms of insects and other arthropods. Adults also feed on small specimens of bats (Myotis blythyii) inside of the cave. Some large specimens are cannibalistic and feed on larvae and juveniles of B. persicus in natural habitats and in the laboratory. This species does not hibernate inside the cave and is active all times of the year.
