An NSAG 455M allegedly prevented the movement of civilians on the main roads linking 74% funded (US$) Kunduz to Baghlan and Takhar roads and reportedly killed one civilian in the Omar Khel area of Aliabad district in Kunduz province on 19 December. AFGHANISTAN HUMANITARIAN FUND (AHF) Across the region, 17,353 people received humanitarian assistance. Moreover, 1,162 internally displaced people (IDPs) who were affected by 95.79M conflict were assessed and will receive assistance in the coming days in Contributions including carry-over Baghlan, Takhar and Kunduz provinces. Weekly Field Report | 2 West: Over 10,000 people displaced due to clashes Military operations between ANSF and an NSAG continued in Farah, Badghis and Ghor (Dawlatyar district) provinces. The ongoing clashes affected civilians and displaced around 1,500 families (approximately 10,500 people) in Jawand district in Badghis province. Since last year, main roads remained closed by an NSAG blocking the movement of civilians and essential goods to the Jawand District Administrative Centre in Badghis province. This resulted in the interruption of humanitarian activities and civilian’s access to basic goods and services in the western part of the country. However, access negotiations for assessment in the district are ongoing. Last week, interagency assessments teams verified 350 people who were affected by conflict to receive humanitarian assistance in the coming days in Badghis province. Assessments are underway to identify people who were displaced by conflict in Farah, Hirat and Ghor provinces. Last week, a Mobile Health Team (MHT) was activated to deliver health services to drought-affected IDPs in the IDP sites in Qala-e-Naw in Badghis province. Additionally, five MHTs are delivering health and nutrition services to the drought-affected IDPs in Hirat IDP sites. North: Over 13,000 people received humanitarian assistance Clashes between ANSF and an NSAG continued in Faryab province. Fighting in Almar district in Faryab province has displaced people to Maymana city. Inter-agency assessment teams verified 1,183 people displaced by conflict in Balkh, Jawzjan and Sar-e-Pul provinces. Around, 13,200 IDPs received humanitarian assistance in Faryab, Sar-e-Pul and Jawzjan provinces. South: Ongoing conflict displaced thousands Mariam, her brothers and her friend playing in the alley in front of their house. Mariam, 9 years old, and her family fled conflict and found refuge in this village, set in a Conflict between an NSAG and ANSF continued in barren land, 20 kilometers away from Mazar. Photo: OCHA/ Charlotte Cans Due to the ongoing clashes approximately 2,000 people were displaced from Nad-e-Ali and Nahr-e-Saraj districts to Lashkargah district in Hilmand province. Last week, 751 IDPs who were affected by conflict received humanitarian assistance in Nimroz and Uruzgan provinces. Assessments are ongoing to identify people who were displaced by conflict in Kandahar, Hilmand and Zabul provinces. Access to people in hard to reach areas is a major issue challenging humanitarian operations in the South. Centre: Over 600 people received humanitarian assistance Last week, 616 IDPs received humanitarian assistance in Khost province. Assessments of vulnerable families in need of winter assistance are ongoing in Ghazni, Daykundi, Bamyan and Maidan Wardak provinces. Additional assessments are ongoing to identify the IDPs who were displaced by conflict in Logar province. A humanitarian partner will start distribution of winter assistance to 3,969 people in Ghazni province in the coming days.
