And how! Following the victory in the premiere in Beijing, Lucas di Grassi, as the runner-up in Ma- laysia, defended his lead of the standings and, together with his team-mate Daniel Abt, cap- tured the top spot in the teams’ classification. That whets the appetite for more – now and, particularly, in the future. The company has a successful track record in other categories spanning several years – in top-flight racing as well as in promoting young talent Baja 1000 is regarded as the world’s toughest off-road race. The loads acting on vehicle components are greater there than anywhere else. The event is an ideal test bed for the components from Schaeffler. The company supports Team All German Motorsports with rally legend Armin Schwarz. The AGM Trophy Truck sports the conspicuous Schaeffler graphics and is shown here meeting with Mike Rockenfeller’s DTM car on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring. BAJA Covering 5,000 kilometers on a single day – in the pinnacle event of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), the WEC Le Mans 24 Hours, maximum demands are made on the cars – a standard that Schaeffler equally applies to its production technologies. That’s why the WEC commitment with races in Europe, South America, the USA and Asia is such a perfect fit. Schaeffler’s partner is the sports car manufacturer Porsche that in 2014 celebrated its return to the top category of what is arguably the world’s most famous auto race. Schaeffler in international motorsport 5 FORMULA STUDENT The world is becoming increasingly complex, and so are the solutions to future challenges. That’s why it’s particularly important for tomorrow’s engineers to start learning how to transfer ideas and innovations as part of their studies. Therefore, Schaeffler partners with Formula Student. The things being practiced here on a small scale are exactly the same ones Schaeffler does on a large scale. DTM Schaeffler has been involved in the most popular international touring car series for years. In 2011, the company extended its presence and began to give its name to one of the cars of Audi Sport Team Phoenix. The success was overwhelming: Martin Tomczyk (2011) and Mike Rockenfeller (2013) in the green-yellow Schaeffler Audi each celebrated winning the drivers title, which BAJA makes them the company’s fastest ambassadors. 6 FACT SHEET XXL FIA FORMULA E 2014 Shaping mobility for tomorrow Sustaining mobility for the future and helping to successfully shape it – this is the strategy pursued by Schaeffler. PRESS RELEASE Paris, 11th December 2015 DS VIRGIN RACING AIMING TO POWER HOME IN URUGUAY DS Virgin Racing will be looking to round off 2015 in style, when the FIA Formula E Championship returns to Uruguay next weekend. After securing the team’s first podium finish of the 2015-16 FIA Formula E season during an eventful race in Putrajaya, Malaysia, last month, Sam Bird will be looking for another strong performance on the streets of Punta del Este in order to consolidate his position within the top 3 of the driver championship standings. For team-mate Jean-Éric Vergne, Punta will bring back some fond memories – it was here where the Frenchman made his Formula E debut last season, storming to pole position before his race was ultimately cut short. To celebrate the run-up to the holiday season, the DSV-01 car livery will be given a special festive make-over. Named after Holly and Bellie Branson, each car’s unique ‘flying lady’ graphic will be adorned with Christmas holly and bells for one-race only. The Punta del Este Street Circuit is one of the most recognisable on the Formula E calendar. Often dubbed the St. Tropez of South America, the circuit features 20 turns as it snakes around the city’s spectacular harbour. Speaking ahead of the race in Uruguay, Bird said: “After Malaysia the whole team was on a high, so we need to use that energy and channel it into another positive performance in Punta. We’re in a good place but there’s still a lot that we can improve on with the car too, which gives us plenty of optimism going into the weekend.

  • Understanding the Place-Specific Formation Processes of Sustainable Urban Experiments a Mixed Method Comparative Case Study of Formula E
Master’s thesis - master Innovation Sciences Understanding the place-specific formation processes of sustainable urban experiments A mixed method comparative case study of Formula E July 27, 2021 Author: Marius Roeterdink, BSc Student number: 5673127 Contact: [email protected] Supervisor: Dr. J. Hoekman Second reader: Dr. ir. J.C.L Torrens Master’s Thesis – Master Innovation Sciences GEO4-2239X Faculty of Geosciences, Utrecht University 0 Place-specific formation processes of sustainable urban experiments Abstract Cities are increasingly recognized as frontrunners in the transition to a more sustainable society due to their assembly of technology, resources, population, culture, and economics. This is, amongst others, visible from a global increase in urban actors collaborating to experiment with new sustainable configurations. These so-called sustainable urban experiments, embedded in a broader niche, are not confined to a specific spatial context but will rather emerge in complex ‘place bundles’, forming a global niche. However, the formation of a global niche is interrelated with local experimentation and is thereby locally rooted. A prime example is sustainable motorsports experiment Formula E. Formula E operates on a global scale with numerous multinational companies involved but is set in urban environments and the local regional context arguably influences the formation of such events. In other words, Formula E is a global sustainable urban experiment which is locally embedded. Considerable variation in the way a sustainable urban experiment is formed locally is likely to exist. The objective of this study was to complement strategic niche management and sustainable transitions literature by understanding the specific place-specific factors under which global sustainable urban experiments are formed.

  • The MICHELIN Pilot Sport EV Storms Through the Sand at Punta Del Este
MEDIA INFORMATION December 15, 2014 FIA FORMULA E CHAMPIONSHIP Punta del Este ePrix The MICHELIN Pilot Sport EV storms through the sand at Punta del Este The third round of the 2014/2015 FIA Formula E Championship in the Uruguayan coastal resort Punta del Este, on Saturday, December 13, 2014, took place in hot summer weather. Sébastien BUEMI (e.dams-Renault) followed up his podium finish on the previous round in Putrajaya, Malaysia, with his first victory in the series after a dramatic ePrix that was marked by several safety car interruptions. The Swiss driver came out on top of an exciting battle with Jean-Eric VERGNE (Andretti) – which lasted until the Frenchman was halted by a mechanical problem on the penultimate lap – to beat Brazilians Nelson PIQUET Jr (China Racing, +0.732s) and Lucas DI GRASSI (Audi Sport ABT, +2.365s). Third place allowed DI GRASSI to extend his lead in the championship over Virgin Racing’s Sam BIRD to 18 points. Despite suffering a last-minute disappointment, Jean-Eric VERGNE surprised observers by claiming pole position even though this was his very first experience of the Formula E Championship. That said the start of the race saw Nelson PIQUET Jr emerge from second on the grid to lead through the first turn. The Brazilian then lapped in front for almost half the distance until VERGNE finally found a way into the lead just prior to the car-swap window. As the drivers re-joined the track after switching to their second race cars, though, it was Sébastien BUEMI who appeared at the top of the order thanks to a slick change.
